Morgan Wallen’s bar in Nashville has been granted permission to display a neon sign, which will declare its rightful place as a downtown establishment.

According to PEOPLE on December 18, the facility’s request for sign approval was approved thanks to the Metro Nashville Council.

The singer’s This Bar and Tennessee Kitchen initially applied for a bar sign. However, the Council initially refused the license application.

In May, Metro Nashville Council board members initially denied the request. Specifically, this was done by voting against 4th Avenue Property LLC’s application to establish a barrier to “air encroachment” on the property.

Councilmember Delishia Porterfield previously cited Wallen’s past problematic actions and allegations as factors influencing the decision. Porterfield commented that Nashville should be a place where people should feel safe and supported, and that publicizing Wallen’s image could be detrimental to visitors.

Previously on December 12, Wallen was sentenced to 7 days in jail and 2 years of probation for throwing chairs into a rooftop bar in Nashville. The singer, who faces misdemeanor and endangerment charges, was also ordered to pay a $350 fine.

Worrick Robinson IV, Wallen’s attorney, confirmed that the singer is fully cooperative and is now aiming to make a “positive impact through his music and platform.”
