10 Best Peter Parker Replacements For Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Based On His MCU Deadline

Tom Holland has already talked about when he could be stepping away as Spider-Man, and instead of recasting Peter Parker, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has many possible replacements for the hero. The MCU’s Spider-Man movies are among the franchise’s best, with Spider-Man: No Way Home, Holland’s latest MCU appearance, making nearly $2 billion worldwide. As such, Marvel and Sony are in no rush to recast Peter Parker.

Holland will be back to lead at least Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4, which will be directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ Destin Daniel Cretton, marking the start of a new era for Peter Parker. It could also be the beginning of the end, as Holland revealed a self-imposed deadline for his time as Spider-Man. While the actor might not follow it to the letter, Holland indicated that he should not play Spider-Man after being 30 — he is now 28 — and so there are a few perfect replacements for his Spidey. Check out the full quote below:

“If I am 30 and still playing Spider-Man and I haven’t passed on the baton to a Miles Morales or a Spider-Woman or something more diverse, then I will have done something wrong in the sense of duties that I have to the character.”

10 “Mayday” Parker

Peter Parker’s Daughter From A Possible Future

Close

Holland’s Spider-Man is such a big character that it is hard to imagine him just leaving the MCU, with Peter retiring as Spider-Man. Instead, it would make more sense if the reason he leaves the franchise is that the character died, likely sacrificing himself to save his loved ones and the world. A way to keep Peter Parker’s memory firmly alive in the MCU after Holland leaves could be by introducing his daughter.

Mayday could be the daughter of Holland’s Peter and Zendaya’s MJ, with the character trying to honor her father’s legacy.

Like Grant Gustin’s The Flash series, the MCU could use time travel, which has already been introduced to the franchise, and the multiverse to get a version of Mayday Parker, Peter and Mary Jane Watson’s daughter in the comics, to serve as the MCU’s Spider-Girl. In the cinematic franchise, Mayday could be the daughter of Holland’s Peter and Zendaya’s MJ, with the character trying to honor her father’s legacy.

9 Spider-Man India

A Breakout Spider-Verse Hero

Close

The animated Spider-Verse movies have introduced many exciting versions of the hero to a larger audience. One of those is Spider-Man India, who not only became one of the coolest characters in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but was also made better than he is in the comics. The MCU could continue that, by offering a look into a different part of the globe after Holland leaves as Spider-Man.

The Spider-Verse franchise’s Spider-Man India actor, Karan Soni, has already appeared in the MCU as Dopinder in Deadpool & Wolverine. He reprised his role from the two Deadpool movies from Fox.

Most MCU heroes live in the same cities or the United States as a whole. Spider-Man India could allow Marvel Studios to make its world richer, exploring another part of the globe in more depth. The Spider-Verse‘s Pavitr Prabhakar is an optimistic hero who has the same vibrant energy as Holland’s Peter Parker. As such, a similar take on the character could be how the MCU replaces Peter Parker.

8 Anya Corazon

She Would Allow The MCU To Make An SSU Film Better

Close

Unrelated to the MCU, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has been developing multiple films based on characters from Spider-Man comics. Apart from Tom Hardy’s Venom franchise, the shared universe’s other releases so far have bombed at the box office. That was the case for Madame Web, which introduced four Spider-Man-like heroines. One of them could make their way to the MCU, like Venom did, stepping in for a departing Peter Parker.

Anya Corazon is a character that can do so much better than the mere tease of her as a hero at the end of Madame Web. Isabela Merced played Anya in Madame Web, and with the actress now in James Gunn’s DC Universe as Hawkgirl, Merced is showing that she wants to make a name for herself in the superhero genre. Anya Corazon lost her powers for a time in the comics but remained a hero, and the MCU could show that compelling struggle.

7 Julia Carpenter

A Fan-Favorite Star Could Finally Join The MCU

Close

Another Madame Web character who could pop up in the MCU is Julia Cornwall, more popularly known as Julia Carpenter in the comics. Julia’s MCU arrival would not only serve to put a character from the ill-fated Madame Web in a more positive light, but it would also allow a huge fancasting dream partly to come true. Sydney Sweeney gave life to Julia Cornwall, who has been both Madame Web and Spider-Woman in the comics, in the SSU.

Sweeney is the fan-favorite to play Black Cat in the MCU. So far, no story details from Holland’s Spider-Man 4 have been revealed, but with MJ not remembering who Peter is, Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, seems like the perfect player to be introduced. That said, Zendaya will reportedly return as MJ in Spider-Man 4, diminishing Black Cat’s debut chances in the franchise, and so Sweeney’s rising star status could be better served as a Spider-Man-like heroine who could replace Peter in the future.

6 Spider-Punk

Another Spider-Verse Favorite Could Come To Live-Action

Close

Daniel Kaluuya’s Spider-Punk was undoubtedly the scene-stealing character of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He lit up the screen every time he appeared in the film, with plenty of hilarious one-liners, as well as his perspective on organizations and those with power. Spider-Punk knows very well what he wants and who he does not trust, and a character with such a firm personality and who oozes a cool factor is perfect for the MCU.

While bringing in characters similar to Peter Parker could make sense to replace him if Tom Holland were to leave, the opposite could also work. Hobie Brown and Peter have very different personalities, but the desire to do good is shared by both heroes. It would be interesting to see how an anarchist Spider-Man fares in the MCU, where power is consolidated in a few spaces and people.

5 Jessica Drew

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker Can Live On In The MCU Through Her

Close

While Jessica Drew is Marvel Comics’ first and most famous Spider-Woman, the character hardly ever connects with Spider-Man. Sure, she has been part of the Spider-Verse crossovers in the comics and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but Jessica’s connection to SHIELD, the Avengers, and Jessica Jones are all stronger than her ties to Peter Parker.

However, the MCU could change that. The first Spider-Woman deserves her time to shine in live-action, and Jessica Drew does have a version in the comics that can be pretty closely tied to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, serving as his perfect replacement. In the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book series, which has inspired a lot of the MCU’s portrayal of Spider-Man, Jessica Drew is a clone of Peter Parker. A version of the comics’ Clone Saga could work for Holland’s final Spider-Man movie, with Jessica Drew emerging as Spider-Woman at the end.

4 Silk

The Character Almost Made It To Live-Action

Close

Sony is developing multiple projects based on Spider-Man characters for TV. The first of them was meant to be Silk: Spider-Society, a series on Prime Video that would have been focused on Silk. However, the project was scrapped after years of development, ending Silk’s live-action chances for now. Silk shares close ties to Peter Parker, and that could allow the MCU to take a look back at Peter’s time in the MCU whenever Holland’s final Spider-Man movie comes around.

Zendaya's MJ with Marvel Comics' Black Cat and Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop on each side Related 10 Marvel Characters Who Could Replace Zendaya’s MJ As Peter Parker’s Love Interest In Spider-Man 4

The MCU’s Spider-Man 4 could bring major changes to Peter Parker’s life, including replacing MJ with a new love interest, and there are great choices.

1

The reason for that is Cindy Moon, aka Silk, was bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers. Holland’s last Spider-Man movie could feature flashbacks showing how Cindy was bitten on the same day as Peter, also serving to finally bring the origin of Holland’s Peter Parker to the big screen after the MCU skipped it. In the comics, the two being bitten by the same spider led to Peter and Cindy being ferociously attracted to one another briefly, which could bring turmoil to Spidey’s love life.

3 Spider-Man 2099

Marvel Studios Would Need To Use A Different Star

Close

Unlike other potential Spider-Verse characters coming to live-action, if Miguel O’Hara were to debut in the MCU, then his voice actor from the popular franchise would most likely not be able to serve as Tom Holland’s Spider-Man replacement. The reason for that is because the Spider-Verse‘s Spider-Man 2099 is brought to life by Oscar Isaac, who is already in the MCU in a major role as Moon Knight.

While the animated franchise’s Spider-Man India and Spider-Punk are also played by MCU actors, their roles in the shared universe are smaller. Miguel O’Hara has enormous potential in live-action. If Peter Parker were to die in the present, the MCU could jump to the future to show the advanced world of Spider-Man 2099, making both heroes part of the same universe, just at different points in the timeline.

2 Gwen Stacy

One Of The Most Important Spider-Man Characters

Close

Gwen Stacy could come into the MCU in a wide range of ways. The character could be native to Earth-616, perhaps even entering a relationship with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker while he and Zendaya’s MJ are apart. After he dies or leaves, Gwen could reveal that she has had powers all along. That said, a multiverse scenario is the best call for Gwen.

A Spider-Woman version of Gwen Stacy could become the main Spider-Man-like hero in the MCU after a major crossover event. That could be with a new actress in the role or perhaps the return of fan-favorite The Amazing Spider-Man Gwen Stacy star Emma Stone. The actress could even lead to Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker showing up again in the MCU’s future. Gwen is funny, intelligent, determined, and an all-around perfect character to step up after Peter is out.

1 Miles Morales

Peter Parker’s Natural Successor

Close

Finally, there is no better Spider-Man replacement for Peter Parker in the MCU than Miles Morales. The character has become the poster boy for how to do legacy heroes right, with Miles’ popularity skyrocketing since he was created in 2011. After the Spider-Verse movies are over with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse‘s release, either that version of Miles could come to live-action, or a new take on the character could debut.

Like Gwen, Miles could either come from Earth-616 or an alternate universe. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker could serve as a mentor to Miles for a movie or two if he is from the MCU before Miles Morales takes over as Spider-Man. If the character comes from a different universe, then he could show up in Avengers: Secret Wars and stay in the MCU, like in the comic book event. Miles could allow Marvel to once again delve into high school Spider-Man stories.

Spider-Man Swinging in Dodson Comic Art Spider-Man

Spider-Man is the name given to several individuals who have employed a spider-moniker throughout Marvel Comics. Typically gaining their powers through a bite from a radioactive spider, the different Spider-Man heroes employ super-strength, agility, and intellect while utilizing webbing to swing and tangle up their foes. The most notable of these Spider-Men is Peter Parker, who remains one of the most popular superheroes throughout the world.
