With Avengers: The Kang Dynasty reported to have an expansive cast, the Marvel Cinematic Universe event better not lose track of some important characters. The MCU has faced a lot of criticism since the start of the Multiverse Saga. Among the complaints was the fact that the shared universe has felt aimless without an Avengers film to build towards. Thankfully, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is coming in 2026 to finally give the MCU a new entry for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Recently, an Avengers: The Kang Dynasty report claimed the movie would bring back over 60 MCU characters. The first film for the Avengers in the Multiverse Saga should have such a massive cast, as the shared universe has expanded at a fast pace in recent years. However, while the upcoming MCU film will feature many characters, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty needs to put a few in the spotlight for different reasons.

10 Ant-Man

Scott Lang Beat Kang The Conqueror

Close

The Avengers 5 report stated that “many of the characters in this film would have equal footing, making it more of an ensemble feature instead of a handful of characters leading the team.” The ensemble nature of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty allows for multiple characters to play a key role in the film without the focus falling only on a couple. One of the most deserving heroes of a major role in the movie is Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man.

Sadly, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania fell short of expectations, becoming the lowest-grossing Ant-Man movie. Rudd’s Scott Lang is one of the MCU’s most entertaining characters, and he deserves a shot at redemption after his last solo film failed. Having defeated Kang the Conqueror, Ant-Man’s experience will be invaluable to help the new Avengers take down the Council of Kangs — if Marvel continues with Kang.

9 Thor

The Hero With The Most MCU Solo Movies

Close

Recently, Chris Hemsworth revealed that he knows he was a little too comedic in Thor: Love and Thunder. The actor is open to coming back for the MCU’s Thor 5 in order to give fans what they want and make up for Thor’s last disappointing solo entry. Marvel Studios is currently shifting its focus to franchises and sequels, so it would make sense to keep one of the most popular heroes in the MCU for a few more years.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty could present a mostly new roster of heroes for the team. However, with the multiverse on the line, it would be for the best that veterans like Thor remain part of the Avengers to face Kang and his variants. Thor is one of the MCU’s most powerful heroes, and with Hemsworth game for more as the character, Thor could really shine now out of Captain America and Iron Man’s shadow in the Avengers.

8 Hulk

Bruce Banner’s MCU Story Is Far From Over

Close

Like Thor, the Hulk is a hero who can now finally get his time to shine in Avengers movies after Captain America and Iron Man’s MCU departure. Due to the VFX aspect of his performance, Mark Ruffalo could keep playing Bruce Banner for years to come, and that might just be the plan. In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, it was revealed that the Hulk has a son called Skaar.

That plot point could be followed in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, as the Hulk’s complicated movie rights likely rule out another solo movie for him. In one of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ post-credits scenes, Banner and Captain Marvel were shown working alongside Wong to determine the origin of the Ten Rings, and with the artifacts looking similar to Kang’s tech, Ruffalo’s dual character could help the new Avengers in multiple ways.

7 Daredevil

Matt Murdock Should Grow In Importance

Close

Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is one of the MCU’s most popular heroes. The actor led what might be the best live-action series Marvel has ever done, with Daredevil‘s three seasons on Netflix including plenty of compelling stories and kinetic fights. After his return in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, Daredevil is now firmly in the MCU. The character has appeared in cameos and supporting roles in multiple MCU projects, with Daredevil: Born Again arriving in March 2025.

Daredevil’s first solo series under Marvel Studios marks the growing importance of the character in the MCU. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige stated that Daredevil and Spider-Man will become the faces of the MCU’s street-level corner. With Cox’s popularity and Feige’s remarks, the stage is set for Daredevil to join the Avengers and be a centerpiece of a possible Earth team in Avengers 5, showing his full potential among the MCU’s full hero roster.

6 Spider-Man

The MCU’s Most Likely Candidate To Take Center Stage

Close

With Iron Man and Captain America gone, there is no MCU character more popular than Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. The hero is coming off the enormous success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which brought back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man, as well as villains from their movies, and did Avengers-level numbers at the box office. With almost $2 billion, the latest Spider-Man movie makes a case for the hero to be one of the focus points of Avengers 5‘s ensemble.

Peter Parker has now graduated from high school. With his Aunt May dead, his friends not remembering who he is, and the character going through epic fights against Thanos and his army, Spider-Man is an experienced MCU hero despite his young age. Peter could emerge as one of the leaders of the new Avengers, with Spider-Man being able to fit in with multiple different groups among the 60+ roster of the next Avengers movie.

5 Doctor Strange

He Has Multiverse Knowledge

Close

Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is one of the key heroes of the Multiverse Saga. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness served as the biggest exploration of the multiverse in an MCU movie so far. The film introduced the concept of incursions, which will be the focal point of Avengers: Secret Wars. At the end of the second Doctor Strange movie, the hero was recruited by Charlize Theron’s Clea to stop an incursion.

That ending could have some ties to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. A possible route is that Doctor Strange and the Avengers will be attempting to stop incursions set off by the Kang variants. Doctor Strange has learned all about the multiverse in his latest solo film, so his immense power and knowledge of what the Avengers are dealing with will be of great value to the team.

4 Rocket Raccoon

The Leader Of The Guardians Of The Galaxy

Close

Before leaving the MCU to chart the next ten years of DC releases, director James Gunn closed out his Guardians of the Galaxy movie trilogy in style. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has easily become one of the MCU’s best movies, and the standout character of the film is undoubtedly Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon. After a cathartic journey, Rocket has become the leader of the new Guardians of the Galaxy, taking on Star-Lord’s role.

Like happened in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the Guardians of the Galaxy are likely going to play a role in the next two Avengers movies. As the captain of the cosmic team, Rocket could have a major role in the film, leading the Avengers’ efforts in space against multiple Kang variants. Rocket’s streak of excellent MCU performances deserves to continue in grand style in the Avengers films.

3 Ms. Marvel

The MCU Heroes’ Biggest Fan

Close

The Multiverse Saga is a turning point in the MCU where the franchise has seen the debut of several new heroes. Those characters must be represented in Avengers 5, and Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan could be the one Marvel uses to do it. Ms. Marvel is already assembling her own team, the Young Avengers, as teased in The Marvels. Kamala and her team could formally debut in the next Avengers movie and assist the new Avengers.

It would also be quite entertaining to see how Ms. Marvel would react to such an event. The MCU has cemented that, much like the comics, Vellani’s Kamala Khan is a major superhero fan. As such, there are plenty of hilarious and heartwarming situations Ms. Marvel could live when she fights alongside an expansive Avengers roster full of heroes Kamala looks up to.

2 Loki

The Protector Of The Multiverse

Close

While Loki season 2 presented a poignant ending for Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, he remains a prime candidate for Avengers 5. After being in Avengers movies as either a villain or dying early, Loki deserves his time in the sun as a bona fide MCU hero. Loki’s new role as the protector of the multiverse could also make him crucial to the story of the next Avengers movie, as the Council of Kangs could be after Loki to take over.

The MCU still has to see Loki reunite with his TVA friends, namely Mobius, as well as Sylvie and, most of all, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would be the perfect place for Thor and Loki to come together again, with the two fighting side by side as heroes to save the multiverse. Loki deserves not to end alone.

1 Deadpool

The TVA’s New Chosen Savior Of The Multiverse

Finally, Deadpool is another MCU hero who deserves a major role in Avengers 5. Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is extremely popular, with box office projections heightening Deadpool & Wolverine‘s chances of reaching the $1 billion mark. Deadpool originated in the Fox Marvel universe, with the MCU’s only 2024 film set to bring him to the MCU once and for all. With its multiversal plot, the movie would prepare Deadpool to join the Avengers and save the multiverse.
