Aaron Charles Carter was born on December 7, 1987 in Tampa, Florida, United States. His parents, Robert Gene Carter and Jane Elizabeth Carter, managed a retirement community.
He has five sisters: Virginia Mary Carter, Taryn Dobson, Bobby Jean Carter (BJ), Leslie Carter and his twin model Angel Carter. In addition, he has an older brother, Nick Carter, who belongs to the Backstreet Boys (1986-2012). His other brother is Caden Brent Carter.

On November 5, 2022, Aaron Carter died suddenly at his home in Lancaster, California, at the age of 34. His body was found in his bathtub by a maid. Toxicology reports were read before an autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death.
Aaron Carter was cremated to lay to rest on November 9, 2022. His identical twin sister, Angel Carter, held his ashes. According to his death certificate, his mother, Jane Elizabeth Carter (née Carter), was the first to learn of his departure.
