Abdul Hadi bin Awang (born 20 October 1947) is a prominent Malaysian politician and religious professor who has served as Member of Parliament for Marang since October 1990.
He is also the 7th President of Malaysian Islamic Partyan Islamist political party and a key component of the Perikatan Nasional coalition, since July 2002.

Abdul Hadi Awang, a famous Malaysian politician, was born on October 20, 1947 in Marang district of Malaysia. He is the fifth child in a family of nine siblings, his father’s name is Haji Awang Mohamad bin Abd Rahman and his mother’s name is Hajjah Aminah Yusuf.
Abdul Hadi Awang attended primary school in neighboring schools before attending this school. Islamic University of Madinah from 1969 to 1973. He then continued to study at Al-Azhar University.
Career
Abdul Hadi Awang is a famous Malaysian politician and Islamic scholar, deeply involved Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) since the 1980s. His community service journey began as an officer for Terengganu Islamic Foundation from 1977 to 1978, during which time he also served as Director of Terengganu Angkatan Belia Muslim Malaysia (ABIM).
In 1978, he began teaching at Maahad Al-Ikhwan (Institut Berakan), a private school founded by young PAS members in Mengadang Akar, Kuala Terengganu. When Anwar Ibrahim left ABIM in 1982 to join United Malay National Organization (UMNO), Abdul Hadi, Fadzil Noor and Datuk Nakhaie Ahmad have moved to PAS.
