Alexander James Jeffery Horne (born 10 September 1978) is an English comedian and presenter known by his stage name Alex Horne. He is a household name in British television and is best known as the creator of the BAFTA-winning television series Task Manager.
He has achieved international acclaim as a host and frontman of the comedy band, Horne Section. He is the host of the band’s podcast and TV show of the same name.

Although known by his stage name Alex Horne, the English comedian’s full name is Alexander James Jeffery Horne. He was born on September 10, 1978, at a leading public hospital in England. Alex Horne was born and raised in Chichester, West Sussex, England.
He was born into the English family of Mr. and Mrs. Horne. He is English by blood and by descent. He was baptized into the Protestant faith and attended a local Church of England parish as an adult.
Horne discovered his talent for comedy as a teenager. He often entertained his friends and family with his jokes and was a popular student during his high school days. He decided to pursue a career in comedy when he entered his twenties.
Education
Alex Horne attended elite schools in England for his preparatory, secondary and university studies. He was educated at the independent Lancing College (1991-1996) and Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. He studied Classics at the latter school and graduated in 2001.
Career
Alex Horne’s first appearance as a comedian was at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2000. He appeared as an actor in the show, How to avoid big ships.
By 2003, Horne had launched his own Edinburgh show, Make Fish Laughwas nominated for the Perrier Award for Best New Artist. The following year, Horne won the Chortle Award for Best Breakthrough Artist. In 2004 and 2005, he performed Every Body Speaks And When in Rome.
Horne wrote and performed Bird watching at the Edinburgh Festival 2007 and Word Tracking at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival as a solo performer. He has also written and published two books based on both performances, titled Bird watching bird watching (2009) and Word Tracking (2010). In January 2007, Horne became the first comedian to perform in Second Life for a show on Sky News.
Since 2010, Horne has performed with his band, Horne Sectionas a comedy variety show host. Alex Horne presents Horne The show aired for three series (2012–2014) on BBC Radio 4, and Horne Section Podcast was launched in 2018.
In 2020, during the UK’s coronavirus lockdown, Horne, along with colleagues Tim Key and Mark Watson, created the YouTube series No More Knights. The series is based on the previous BBC web series No more womenAlong with John Robins, Horne is the host of the YouTube channel bad golf.
Horne is well known on British television, having appeared on a number of shows as a contestant, guest or judge. Notable works include Countdown, Celebrity Mastermind, Call My Bluff, Matt Lucas Award, Task ManagerAnd The Chaseamong others.
