Alex Aadroa Onzima (born 26 June 1952) is a prominent Ugandan politician who has held several national positions.
He is currently the Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President in the Ugandan Cabinet, a position he has held since June 2016.
He is considered one of the most prominent and influential politicians in Uganda.

Early life
Alex Onzima was born in 1952 in Maracha District, West Nile Sub-Region, Northern Region of Uganda.
His parents were farmers so he had to attend local schools in the area.
However, with his parents’ passion and determination to study, they pooled all their resources to ensure that he got a college education.
This was done when he was later admitted to Makerere University.
He was a natural leader, gifted with the gift of persuasion and eloquence. As a result, he received much respect throughout the country.
Education
Alex Onzima attended primary and secondary school at Maracha District Local School before continuing his studies at the prestigious Makerere University.
He studied public health dentistry from 2002 until graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is an erudite politician who often speaks at various events across the country.
Career
Veteran politician, Alex Onzima represented Maracha District in the Ugandan Parliament from 1996 to 2004. He was then part of the country’s non-party system. However, in 2004, he joined the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), a newly formed political party at the time.
In 2010, he officially left the FDC and joined the ruling National Resistance Movement. However, during the 2011 parliamentary elections, there were media reports that Alex Onzima intended to run as an independent candidate. However, he later denied the rumors by not running in the said election.
In the cabinet formed after the 2011 national elections, Alex Onzima was appointed Minister of Local Government.
From 27 May 2011 to 6 June 2016, he served as Minister of Local Government. He replaced Perez Ahabwe.
Alex Onzima was also an elected member of Congress, representing Maracha District, Maracha District in the 9th Congress (2011 to 2016).
In the cabinet list announced by President Yoweri Museveni on 6 June 2016, he was appointed as Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President.
Alex Onzima is a career politician who has held various positions across the country and has often left an indelible mark on his transition to another position. As such, he is considered one of the most influential politicians in Uganda.
