Alexandra Shipp’s movies and TV shows already show the makings of a spectacular career, and the young actor seems destined to be a big star in Hollywood before long. Shipp is an actor fans will recognize for smaller supporting roles in a number of high-profile projects. However, with her talents showing through in these smaller roles, it is only a matter of time before she gets bigger and better opportunities and takes her career to another level.
Shipp has shown her ability to stand out in superhero sequels and blockbuster comedies, appearing alongside the likes of Margot Robbie, Jennifer Lawrence, and Glen Powell, while some of her lesser-known projects have also shown she can carry a lead role effectively. She has shown charm and earned laughs in comedies while also delivering intense dramatic roles. It is exciting to see where Shipp’s career will take her next, but her various movie and TV roles already offer something impressive.
10 House of Anubis (2011-2013)
KT Rush (41 Episodes, 2013)
One of the earliest roles that helped put Alexandra Shipp on people’s radar comes from a Nickelodeon show. House of Anubis is a teen series set in an English boarding school that delves into the secrets and mysteries of the young students residing there. Shipp joined the show in its third and final season but managed to make an impact as the new student KT Rush, who had secrets of her own.
The series took the approach of many British mystery series but stood out with its unique setting and a younger cast of characters. It turned the British series into an international hit which helped to introduce Shipp and her talents to a wide range of audiences, leading to her bigger roles in future projects. Shipp returned to the role of KT in the TV special House of Anubis: Touchstone of Ra.
9 Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B (2014)
As Aaliyah Haughton
In one of her earliest film, Alexandra Shipp not only showed that she could take on the lead role but also that she wasn’t intimidated by playing real-life icons. Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B stars Shipp as the ground-breaking and hugely successful artist Aaliyah whose music continues to live on following her tragic death in a plane crash in 2001. The series follows the talented musician through her rise to fame and collaborations with other artists.
Though the Lifetime movie did not bring the same kind of attention as a theatrical biopic of an artist like this, Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B proved to be a breakout role for Shipp. Despite it being the early years of her career, she commands the role with complete confidence, showing the determination and passion Aaliyah had, which made her a star so early in her own career.

Most people were likely introduced to Alexandra Shipp when she took over the role of Ororo Munroe, aka Storm, in the X-Men movies. Shipp makes her debut in X-Men: Apocalypse alongside Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, the ancient villain who is thought to be the world’s first mutant. As Xavier and his young team come together to try and stop this new threat, Apocalypse begins to assemble his own team of powerful mutants, including Storm.
X-Men: Apocalypse is far from the best movie of the comic book franchise as it is quite a messy adventure. However, there are some bright spots, including Shipp’s performance as Storm. One of the most beloved X-Men characters, Shipp had a daunting task in stepping into such a role, but she makes for the most impressive new addition to the cast.

While Alexandra Shipp is a small part of the big production, Barbie still must be counted among her best movies. Greta Gerwig cleverly brings the iconic doll to the big screen with Margot Robbie stepping into the role as Barbie who lives her idyllic life in Barbieland until she starts to go through an existential crisis that leads her to venture out into the real world with her clingy “boyfriend” Ken (Ryan Gosling) tagging along.
Shipp is one of many alternative Barbies in the hilarious and inventive comedy. Shipp’s Barbie is notable for being the first to be “deprogrammed” after the Kens take over Barbieland. The movie was a surprise box office sensation with Gerwig delivering a completely original blockbuster that appealed to a wide audience but still had a lot of interesting things to say. It was also nominated for several Oscars, including Best Picture, and won Best Original Song for “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish.
