early life
Ali Nuhu, whose real name is Ali Nuhu Mohammed, was born on March 15, 1974 in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State in northeastern Nigeria.
His father, Nuhu Poloma, is from the small town of Balanga in Damaturu Central, Gombe State. He is a politician and was the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Gombe State chapter.
The veteran died in June 2020 at the age of 78.
On the other hand, his mother, Fatima Kadram Digma, hailed from Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. She was a former headmistress and school teacher. Unfortunately, she passed away in 1999 after a brief illness.
He has two siblings, a sister named Amina Digema and a brother named Ibrahim B. Nuhu who died on June 11, 2013 in Jos, Plateau State due to complications of tuberculosis infection.
A few years after his birth, his family moved to Jos, the capital of Plateau State, where he grew up before eventually settling in the ancient city of Kano in Kano State in northwestern Nigeria.

Ali Nuhu received his primary education at Riga Special Primary School from 1979 to 1985. He obtained the mandatory West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate and Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) from 1986 to 1988 at the Government Secondary Commercial School, Kano State.
He continued his higher education at the University of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from 1992 to 1997.
He also continued his studies through Nigeria’s mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and served in Ibadan, Oyo State, southwestern Nigeria in 1998.
A few years later, he decided to learn the art of filmmaking, so he enrolled in the prestigious University of Southern California, where he studied filmmaking and cinematic arts programs.
Ali Nuhu has also attended the film training program at the Asian Media Institute in New Delhi, India. He also received an honorary doctorate from ISM Adonai American University in the Republic of Benin in 2018.

Ali Nuhu made his screen debut in the 1999 Hausa film Abin Sirri Ne. He rose to fame with another film Sangaya, which became one of the highest-grossing Hausa films of its time.
Ali Nuhu has also starred in many movies such as “Azel”, “Jarumin”, “Maza” etc. His best movie is “Satinda”, which won him the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 2007 African Movie Awards (AFRIMA).
