Rebirth continues the gameplay style of its predecessor, blending real-time action with strategy and role-playing elements. The storyline picks up immediately after the events of the remake, telling the story of mercenary Claude Strife and the Avalanche eco-terrorist group. Their mission is to travel across the planet to stop the Shinra mega-corporation from harnessing the essence of life, the Lifestream, as a source of energy. Their ultimate goal is to confront former elite soldier Sephiroth, who aims to unite with Earth to increase his power.
“Rebirth” began production in November 2019 before the release of “Remastered” and will be officially released in June 2022. The main staff from the previous game returned to their original positions, with Tetsuya Nomura serving as creative director (rather than director), and Naoki Hamaguchi serving as director (rather than co-director) in the role.
Final Fantasy VII Reborn releases exclusively for PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024, continuing the tradition of the beloved series with its engaging storyline and engaging gameplay.

The protagonist is Cloud Strife, a former Shinra soldier who is now allied with the eco-terrorist organization AVALANCHE to oppose Shinra’s exploitation of the earth’s life energy. The plot revolves around their conflict with Sephiroth, an elite soldier who was thought dead but has now returned for a showdown. Like Remastered, Reborn reimagines the original game with added character depth and narrative expansion.
The game involves real-time exploration and combat in a more open world than the remake’s linear Midgar. Objective markers guide players through main and side missions, with distance displayed in the heads-up display. Chocobos offer faster travel speeds, and combat combines action-focused melee combat with a real-time combat (ATB) system. Switch characters freely and use physical attacks, magic, and items strategically. The “Coordination” mechanism introduced in the DLC “Episode INTERmission” allows simultaneous attacks with slower ATB bar fill rates.
