‘All I hear is Taylor Swift’

Deep Purple frontman Ritchie Blackmore shared his views on modern music.

According to the ’70s legend, in a video titled “Tales from the Pub Discussing His Passion for Music,” Blackmore conveyed his love of old songs and revealed how he fights paintings to connect with today’s modern music.

“I still keep my passion for music by listening to old music from the years 15 to 1400, listening to a few bands I made friends with in Germany, Czechia, Finland and Sweden, they still play really exciting music. dynamic. Me, I’m obsessed with those things.”

He continued, “It’s very natural, music attracts me. Obviously I don’t listen to the radio in America, where they play the latest news, whatever it is.”

Blackmore went on to discuss generational changes when it comes to musical tastes and that he cannot relate to songs played on modern radio.

He then shared that old rock music from the 50s is his favorite, mentioning some iconic names like Elvis Presley, Scotty Moiore, James Burton, Ricky Nelson, The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly.

Blackmore added, “Of course, I feel like an old man complaining about the music they’re playing on the radio at the moment. I felt that in the ’70s when Eric Clapton played (in) Cream and those the same thing, it’s profound music.”

He shared specific thoughts about the songs played on the radio: “In my opinion, I don’t listen to good music, maybe it’s good music but it’s not what I want to hear.”

“When the whole family got in the van and went on vacation, maybe 20 miles away, because I don’t like to travel, all I heard was probably about Taylor Swift or something. I found it hard to relate think.” to that.”

However, Blackmore makes it clear that there is nothing wrong because each generation’s musical identity is unique and wonderful in its own way.

“But that’s not wrong, it’s the new generation that wants to hear that. It’s probably as great for them as the Beatles, Cream and Jimi Hendrix are for me. So I can’t really complain.”

Blackmore later commented, “But I like to complain and I will complain and I think the crap they play on the radio today is horrible.”
