HYDERABAD: Telugu actor Allu Arjun has been arrested by the Hyderabad Police in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede at a special screening of his latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule.
The incident took place on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre, located at the bustling RTC Crossing, where a huge crowd had gathered to catch a glimpse of the star.
A 35-year-old woman, identified as Revathi, was killed in the stampede, while her 9-year-old son, Sri Teja, was seriously injured and is recovering at a local hospital.

Police officials from Chikkadpally police station arrested Arjun from his residence in Jubilee Hills today (Friday) for questioning regarding a complaint filed by the deceased’s family.
A case has been filed against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theater management for not informing the police about Allu Arjun’s presence at the screening of the film.
The theater management was said to have been aware of his arrival but did not inform the authorities, which would have warranted adequate security measures.
Furthermore, the theater lacked separate entrances and exits for attendees, causing chaos to worsen as attendance grew.
