Ana Cabrera (born May 13, 1982) is a television journalist and television personality best known for her role as a CNN anchor. Throughout her career, she has covered many prominent events across the country.
She is the anchor of CNN Newsroom at 1 p.m. weekdays in New York. At CNN, she has reported on a variety of topics, including the COVID-19 pandemic, politics, natural disasters, mass shootings, and more.
Ana Cabrera’s political coverage includes the 2020 presidential election, the attack on the U.S. Capitol, and President Donald Trump’s two historic impeachment hearings.

Early life
Ana Cabrera was born on May 13, 1982 in Denver, Colorado, United States. She was born to American parents Ronald Cabrera (father) and Judith Cabrera (mother). She has five siblings: Angelina Cabrera, Matthew Cabrera, John Cabrera, and Nathan Cabrera.
Ana Cabrera grew up in Denver, where she didn’t grow up in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood like Texas or California.

Career
After completing her studies, Ana Cabrera began working at KHQ-TV in Spokane, Washington. The station is an NBC affiliate and a flagship of The KHQ Television Group, which is owned by the same company that owns “The Spokesman-Review.” The station’s broadcasts are broadcast in many parts of the United States and Canada, and are known to have a larger audience.
Ana Cabrera returned to her hometown of Denver after several years with KHQ-TV. She began working for KMGH-TV Channel 7 News, an ABC affiliate owned by the E.W. Scripps Company, which is available on multiple cable and digital channels.
She worked as a morning news anchor and was part of a field crew covering the 2012 High Park Fire, a wildfire in Larimer County, Colorado, west of Fort Collins. According to sources, the fire was started by a lightning strike and burned for nearly a month before being extinguished. The fire killed one person and destroyed nearly 87,000 acres, making it the second-largest fire in Colorado by acreage burned.
It was the third-costliest fire in Colorado history, destroying nearly 260 homes. She won an Emmy for her field reporting, and the morning crew won the Associated Press Radio and Television Association’s annual Mark Twain Award for Best Morning Broadcast the following year.
CNN hired Ana Cabrera as a correspondent in Denver shortly after receiving the award. CNN is owned by Turner Broadcasting System and was the first television network in the United States to provide 24-hour news and the first all-news network, broadcasting to over 100 million homes. After a stint as a reporter, she was promoted to work with the CNN Investigative team, a position she held for many years.
Ana Cabrera took over as host of the primetime weekend show “CNN Newsroom” from Poppy Harlow in 2017. “CNN Newsroom” airs both recorded and live newscasts throughout the week. They also invite experts from a variety of industries to discuss the issues and news they cover on each show.
Unlike other primetime shows that often feature hard news, the show is notable for its focus on lighter topics.
