Career
Ange Postecoglou’s football journey began as a child, where he showed immense talent and quickly climbed the ladder of success with South Melbourne Hellas, his hometown team. In 1984, he made his senior debut for South Melbourne and became an integral part of the club playing 193 matches.
During his time there, he achieved notable victories, winning two NSL championships in the 1984 and 1990–91 seasons. In addition, Postecoglou is proud to represent Australia at the U-17 and U-20 levels, further strengthening his skills on the international stage.
Ange Postecoglou’s coaching career began in 1996 at South Melbourne, where he enjoyed success winning two NSL premierships in 1997–98 and 1998–99. Furthermore, under his guidance, the club won the Oceania Club Championship in 1999, earning them a place in the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup.
Postecoglou became head coach of the Australian U-20 team in 2000. For seven years, he led the team to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2001 and 2005. In 2007, Postecoglou moved to Greece, where he took on the role of head coach for Panachaiki. After one season with the team, he returned to Australia in 2009 to take up the position of head coach for Brisbane Roar.
Under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou, Brisbane Roar achieved significant success winning the A-League Premiership in 2011 and claiming the premiership title in 2011–12. Furthermore, his excellent managerial skills saw him recognized as the 2010–11 A-League Manager of the Year.
Postecoglou’s appointment as head coach of the Australian national team took place in 2013. Under his leadership, the team was successful in winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
