Aniyah and Dakwon talk about TLC’s surprise episode 6
Aniyah and Dakwon are among the new cast members in TLC’s season 6. UnexpectedReturning for its sixth season, Unexpected will follow five young couples as they deal with pregnancy, early motherhood, preeclampsia, and other issues. Unexpected has been a natural vehicle for conversations about teen pregnancy and how families should handle these situations when they arise since its debut in 2017.
The show also teaches teens about the impact of unwanted pregnancy on their lives. Family members including parents and grandparents are involved in helping young people manage motherhood; it’s a cross between Teen Mom and 16 & Pregnant.
The show, which premieres on Monday, June 3, 2024, will likely replace Seeking Sister Wife. Back on Unexpected, Jenna Ronan introduces her new love interest, while Lilly Bennett prepares to walk down the aisle. It’s been a while since Unexpected season 6. While Lilly and Lawrence were getting married, Jenna gave birth to her second child in 2023 and was briefly engaged to JJ.
The cast of Unexpected is compelling, with two returning couples and three new ones adding tension. Three-year-old Luca has a mother named Jenna; she’s no longer with Luca’s father, Aden Albright. With Aiden gone, Jenna turns to JJ Della as her new boyfriend. It’s clear that Jenna doesn’t want to be a mother anytime soon. But, JJ makes it clear in the trailer that the couple isn’t using protection, and Jenna’s worried that she might get pregnant again.
Another returning couple is Lilly Bennett and Lawrence, who are balancing wedding planning with raising four-year-old daughter Aliyah and sixteen-month-old LJ. Lawrence is nervous about the wedding because they don’t have enough money, but Lilly is excited about it. An aspiring ATV racer and his self-proclaimed “mountain lion” girlfriend add drama to Unexpected’s new couple.
Emalee is in a relationship with Nate, who she claims she has to “mother up to”. Nate’s goal of becoming a dirt bike racer will have to wait while he deals with the realities of being a teenage dad. In season six of Unexpected, Kayleigh and Graham are a new couple, eager to start a family but with obstacles to overcome.
Graham and former cheerleader Kaleigh are expecting a child together, but they live thirty minutes apart. In addition to the distance, Kayleigh’s mother has doubts about the couple’s ability to work together.
Finally, Aniyah and her boyfriend Dakwon form the third new couple in Unexpected season 6. Aniyah’s pregnancy is not going well. However, Aniyah wonders if Dakwon will stay forever as he is having a hard time accepting the news of her pregnancy.
Their TLC bio reads: “Aniyah is a successful teenager dating Dakwon, a star athlete who is overwhelmed by the dramatic change in their lives. Aniyah experiences a difficult pregnancy while growing increasingly worried that Dakwon will leave after their child is born.”
Are Aniyah and Dakwon still together?
It is unclear if Aniyah and Dakwon are still together. Most recently, Aniyah shared about blocking Dakwon via a Facebook post while writing, “Just blocked my bd. I wish he would ask me for a DNA test and not today on Facebook!”
In March 2024, Aniyah hinted at her current status with Dakwon with a status that read, “Bye Daedae never yelled at me before” in response to a post that read, “Every BabyDaddy has slapped BabyMoma the hell out of me before.”

Meanwhile, Dakwon graduated from Norview High School in 2023. His grandmother, Diane Baker, passed away on August 6, 2012. She was the HR-MIS-IT Director for the MC CS Marine Corps for 37 years. She was educated at Granby High School and was a member of Life Line Ministry.
