Early life
Anne Lederman was born on July 20, 1983 in Philadelphia.
On July 19, her twin brother Max Lederman was born just minutes before her.
Her ancestors are English, German and Jewish.
Annie Lederman’s father worked as treasurer at the University of Pennsylvania, and her mother worked in the social services field.
She was raised as a Quaker and received her early education at a Quaker school.
Education
Annie Lederman trained to be a junior Olympic swimmer as a teenager, but she dropped out after injuring her leg in a car accident caused by a drunk driver . She then attended an alternative high school for juvenile delinquents, where she was sexually assaulted by a male teacher.

After the incident, Annie Lederman and another female student testified against him in court. She then becomes acquainted with some troublesome classmates who are involved in drug dealing and other criminal activities.
After graduating from high school at age seventeen, Annie Lederman spent the next year doing volunteer work, first training dolphins in Hawaii and then working for a nonprofit in Central America to support Support children in difficult circumstances.
She then returned to the United States to work as an Easterseals camp counselor and organizations supporting children with disabilities, including cerebral palsy and spina bifida.
After a year of volunteer work, Annie Lederman enrolled at Santa Fe College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She took classes there intermittently for eight years, majoring in art and counseling. She became an alcoholic in college and had multiple blackouts, one of which resulted in her colliding with a motorbike and being seriously injured.
“I didn’t waste any time having fun and getting drunk,” she recalls. “I was desperate for a terrible vacation. I despise myself. I simply don’t want to be around you.” Two weeks after she graduated, the university went out of business and closed.
Career
Annie Lederman moved to New York City in 2009 to seek a career in comedy and get clean. In 2011, she and video artist Abbey Luck founded the YouTube channel Sausage Party Presents. She is a regular panelist on E! Chelsea Recent series from 2012 to 2014.
Annie Lederman voiced Cheryl in the Rockstar video game Grand Theft Auto V in 2013. Additionally, she starred in the short-lived comedy series We Have Issues in 2015.
Her tooth flossing comedy was widely replicated online in 2018. That same year, she appeared in The Long Dumb Road as a supporting character.
She enjoys making jokes on social media as well as stand-up comedy and believes it’s simpler to make one person laugh at a single joke than to keep an entire audience entertained for an extended period of time.
In 2019, Annie Lederman launched the Meanspirits podcast.
