What is the hidden message in “The Other Code: Memories”?

In Another Code Recollection, there are hidden messages waiting to be discovered, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the gaming experience. These elusive messages, like little origami birds decorated with QR codes, are cleverly hidden in the game’s two chapters: Another Code: Two Memories and Another Code R: A Journey into Lost Memories .

To uncover these hidden gems, players must use the in-game camera and point it at the disguised origami bird. Once the camera successfully captures an image, the message is automatically added to the player’s collection, accessible via DAS (Dual Another System). The information is divided into two categories: Journey into Memories and Lost Memories, providing insight into Ashley’s father Richard, as well as the fascinating lore surrounding the game.

From Richard’s early forays into carpentry, to his reflections on family history and moments at the Bloody Edward Island mansion, each piece of information adds depth to the narrative. As the player progresses through the game, hidden information becomes pieces of a larger, more complex puzzle, uncovering secrets about the characters and mysteries within the game.

Hidden Messages is not only a testament to the careful design of Another Code Recollection, but also serves as a rewarding challenge for players keen to explore every corner of the game world. Another code: the memory game

In Another Code: Memories, significant changes have been made to the gameplay and presentation. Cutscenes now feature voiced characters for the first time in the series, and are available in both English and Japanese dubbing. Some of the characters in Two Memories have now been animated, and the original top-down perspective has been replaced by a third-person perspective. The traditional DAS (dual system) has been replaced by regular menus, and conversations with characters are now presented in a comic style.

Additionally, flashbacks and memory sequences have a new art style, and memories have been altered. The game also introduces a new set of collectibles called “Another key.” Character models in the game are cartoonishly colored, and characters like Dan Maxwell and Janet Rice have been race-swapped for more diversity. The character’s clothing and accessories have been redesigned, with a nod to Pinkie Rabbit appearing on Ashley’s hoodie.

The design of the DAS now resembles that of the Nintendo Switch, deviating from the original DS design. New audio changes include a remastered soundtrack, new arrangements, and all-new music. The puzzle portion of “Two Memories” now uses the arrangement of “Everything Comes Together”. Development of Another Code: Recollection was announced at a Nintendo Direct, with a demo released that allows players to transfer save data to the main game. The game received a positive response, with a Famitsu score of 32/40.

The subtitle “Memories” plays on words, referring both to the theme of memory and to the collection of two games. The game may have been developed by former Cing employees with the approval of Nintendo, as Nintendo owns the series. The box art was created by Taisuke Kanasaki, former art director of Another Code, based on drawings created in February 2022.
