Anushka Shetty is an Indian actress who was born in Mangaluru, India on 7 November 1981. She was raised by her parents Prafulla Shetty and AN Vittal Shetty along with her two siblings Gunaranjan Shetty and Sai Ramesh Shetty.
Shetty holds a bachelor’s degree in computer applications from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. Her ethnicity is Indian and her religion is Hindu.

One of the most popular and acclaimed actresses in the Telugu film industry, Anushka Shetty had an interesting start in her acting career. While shooting for her debut film, Super Hero, director Puri Jagannadh and producer Nagarjuna were keen on giving Shetty a screen name as they felt her real name, Sweety, might resonate better with the audience.
As they were mulling over the options, they came across the name Anushka Manchanda, who had sung a song in the film. They were so impressed by the name that they adopted Anushka as Shetty’s screen name, marking the beginning of her illustrious film career.
Shetty made her film debut in Super, starring alongside well-known stars Nagarjuna and Ayesha Takia. Although the film received mixed reviews, Shetty’s performance was well received and she received a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Telugu.
