In the upcoming governorship election in Edo State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made a crucial decision on its deputy governorship candidate. Following negotiations between APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, a crucial resolution regarding the party’s candidate line-up has been reached.
After concerns were raised about Oshiomhole’s preferred candidate, Dennis Idahosa, losing the gubernatorial primary, the party reached a consensus. Sir Dennis Idahosa, currently a Representative, has been nominated as the Deputy Governor. He will team up with Senator Monday Okpebholo, who has been selected as the APC governorship candidate for Edo State.
The decision marks a moment of unity within the party, as Oshiomhole is expected to throw his full support to the APC in the upcoming governorship election on September 21, 2024.
During a meeting with APC gubernatorial candidates and stakeholders in Edo State, National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje formally introduced Dennis Idahosa as the party’s deputy governorship candidate. The announcement was made through a statement on the party’s official channels, affirming the party’s commitment to the selected candidates.
Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo for emerging as the APC governorship candidate. This comes after Idahosa, Oshiomhole’s supposed choice, lost to Okpebholo in the primary election held on February 22.
