Austin Agustín Santos Rosas, better known by his stage name Arcángel, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter born on December 23, 1985, in New York City to Dominican parents. His journey in the music industry began in 2002 when he became interested in reggaeton, a contemporary Latin American urban music genre.
While living in Puerto Rico, he became a member of the popular underground reggaeton duo Arcángel & De la Ghetto, who co-wrote hits such as “Aparentemente,” “Agresivo,” “Sorpresa,” and “Mi Fanática” in the mid-2000s, becoming popular among reggaeton fans in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Arcángel later released his debut studio album, El Fenómeno, in late 2008. The album included tracks produced in 2008 and before, including the 2007 track “Chica Virtual”, which was produced by DJ Nelson.
The famous songs “Pa’ Que la Pases Bien” and “Por Amar a Ciegas” contributed to his success and were widely played on Latin urban radio stations in the United States.

2004–2007: Started his career at De la Ghetto
- In 2002, Arcangel returned to Puerto Rico, interested in pursuing a career in reggaeton music.

Archangel’s Early Life
Arcangel was born in New York City to Dominican parents.
When he was 12, his family moved to Puerto Rico, and he began traveling back and forth between New York City and Puerto Rico.
His mother, Carmen Rosa, was a member of the popular all-girl merengue group las Chicas del Can, which was active from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s.
Arcangel was exposed to a variety of musical genres while growing up, with a particular fondness for rock music, particularly the Puerto Rican pop-rock artist and former member of the band Menudo, Draco Rosa.
