Ark: Survival Evolved
Ark: Survival Evolved, stylized as Ark, is an action-adventure survival video game developed by Studio Wildcard and published in 2015. The game immerses players in a challenging environment where they must try to survive after being trapped on a map filled with various dangers. Roaming dinosaurs, mythical creatures, prehistoric animals, natural hazards and potentially hostile human players.
Ark: Survival Evolved gives players the option to experience the game from a third-person or first-person perspective and navigate the vast open world. Players can explore the environment on foot or choose to ride one of the game’s prehistoric animals.
To defend against aggressive creatures and other players, players can use guns and improvised weapons. They also have the ability to build bases on the ground and even on certain creatures as a means of defense. The game offers both single-player and multiplayer modes, allowing players to team up and form tribes in the server.
The maximum number of clan members varies from server to server. In multiplayer modes, tamed dinosaurs and buildings are often shared among clan members. Additionally, there is a Players vs. Environment (PvE) mode, where players cannot fight each other unless a pre-arranged war event is triggered and agreed to by both parties.
Development on Ark: Survival Evolved began in October 2014, and the game was originally released as an early access game on PC in mid-2015. The development team conducted research to ensure the physical appearance of animals in the game was as realistic as possible, while also allowing creative freedom to enhance gameplay.
Instinct Games, Efecto Studios and Virtual Basement are involved in the development of the game. The game was officially released in August 2017 for Linux, macOS, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One.
In the following years, Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch versions were released in 2018, with a Stadia version following in 2021. In addition, a second Nintendo Switch version will be released in 2022, providing players with more opportunities to start their survival adventure in the world of Ark.

Ark server shut down?
With the release of Ark: Survival Ascend, players will have the opportunity to start over in a remastered version of their beloved survival game. While cross-play and cross-progression features will not be available, there are still some options available to explore.
Even after the official servers shut down in August 2023, players can interact with unofficial servers or play locally with friends. Determining the exact target audience for this remake can be challenging.
However, beyond those who may be interested in experiencing the Ark series for the first time, the availability of unofficial servers and local play can help maintain a community around the original game long after the official servers cease functioning.
Ideally, game developer Wildcard will offer players the opportunity to transfer their progress to this remastered version, although only time will tell if such a feature will be implemented.
Fortunately, the console offers support for unofficial servers, but it’s worth noting that some players may engage in hacking and destructive behavior, which may detract from the overall enjoyment of the game.
To ensure a positive experience, players may want to create their own server or join a trusted server to ensure the gaming environment remains enjoyable. Still, the community’s full support will undoubtedly keep this title alive for years to come.

The unexpected release of Ark: Survival Ascension brings exciting news to players, giving them the chance to embark on a brand new adventure in a remastered version of their beloved survival game.
Although cross-play and cross-progression features are not supported, there are other ways to have fun. Once the official servers go offline in August 2023, players can still join unofficial servers or play locally with friends. This allows players to continue their Ark experience, explore new worlds and face challenges alongside other survivors.
By venturing onto unofficial servers or enjoying local play, players can stay connected to the game and create lasting memories within their own circles. Despite the lack of cross-play and cross-progression, the community can still come together to create new adventures in the world of Ark: Survival Ascension.
