Speaking of which, if you remember those wacky CD-i Zelda games and their unique animations and voice acting, you’ll have a nostalgic feeling for Azet. The cutscenes here are intentionally cheesy, but the production is surprisingly good, capturing the spirit of those classic CD-i moments.

Now, onto the gameplay. Arzette’s visuals mimic the CD-i era, but thankfully the platforming mechanics are much smoother. Combat feels familiar and refined, reminiscent of CD-i Zelda games, but with a modern twist.

However, for those unfamiliar with the CD-i era, the Arzette’s appeal may be lost. The references to CD-i games and quirks of the era may not sit well with everyone. But if you’re a retro gaming fan or have fond memories of the CD-i era, Arzette will provide you with a nostalgic trip.

That said, Azette is not without its flaws. There are moments of frustration, such as unexpected pitfalls and occasional confusion about where to go next. But with unlimited lives and generous checkpoints, these problems are manageable.

All in all, Azette: The Jewel of Farrarmore is a charming return to the CD-i era. It’s not groundbreaking, but it captures the essence of retro gaming in a way that’s both nostalgic and fun. So if you’re looking for a trip down memory lane or just enjoying a classic platformer, give Arzette a try.
