Austin Harris Mahone, the son of Charles Edgar Mahone and Michele Lee (née Demyanovich), was born on April 4, 1996 in San Antonio, Texas.
Austin Mahon’s father, Carter Mahon, died when he was one and a half years old, and he was raised by his single mother, Michelle Mahon, as a Catholic. Austin Mahon is of Slovak, English, French, and German descent.

Austin Mahone attended Lady Bird Johnson High School in San Antonio, but dropped out after freshman year to be home-schooled at her grandmother’s home.

In 2010, Austin Mahone began posting videos regularly on YouTube, eventually gaining a following with several funny skits and skillful song covers. The turning point in his career was when he covered the very popular song “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber. This song brought him to the spotlight.
Before signing a record deal, Austin Mahone was hailed by some as the next Justin Bieber, and he soared to No. 38 on the Billboard Social 50, a chart that ranks artists by their popularity on social networks. But with soaring popularity came problems. Austin Mahone was forced to drop out of school because his fame greatly limited his ability to continue his education. His mother eventually quit her career as a mortgage banker to balance homeschooling her children and managing his career.
