Early Life & Education
Azawi, a famous musician, was born in Kampala on 2 February 1996. She spent her early years in the Nakulabye slum as a member of a middle-class family. Despite the adversity, Azawi’s mother, Nakamatte Mary, worked tirelessly as a shop owner to support Azawi and her three siblings, including half-siblings.

Tragedy struck during Azawi’s senior four years when she lost her father, Walusimbi Samuel. Undeterred by the difficulties, Azawi continued to study. She started her educational journey at Buganda Road Primary School and then attended Kevin’s mother elementary school in Mukono, where she completed her seventh primary education.
Azawi’s pursuit of knowledge took her to various institutions, reflecting her determination to overcome challenges. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University and study at schools such as College of St. Henry in Ggangu Masajja, Lubiri Secondary School, London College in Nansana, and St. John’s High School Janani Luwum for her A levels. Career
In 2005, Azawi’s artistic journey began with dance when she joined the famous theater troupe Kika. The rhythm of her passion resonated, leading her to another dance group, the Crane Performers. Azawi’s dedication has transcended borders, allowing her to showcase her dancing abilities in China.
The turning point came in 2011 when Azawi discovered his innate talent for composing. This marks the beginning of a new chapter where she writes lyrics, infusing her emotions into every word. The culmination of her efforts came to fruition in 2016, a pivotal year when she met Eddy Kenzo’s manager Beta. With Beta’s guidance, Azawi’s musical adventure officially took off.
