Baldur’s Gate 3 tier list information
Our Baldur’s Gate 3 class tier list shows that each class offers a unique gameplay experience, but not all classes are equally effective. While they all have their own strengths and limitations, choosing the right class can greatly enhance gameplay. This guide details all the current classes in Baldur’s Gate 3, as well as a preview of upcoming classes and what players can expect from them.
When creating a character in Baldur’s Gate 3, choosing a class is a crucial decision, as it affects everything from health to abilities, spells, and skills. While each category has its own merits, some are more dominant or influential than others. Even the tabletop game that inspired Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dungeons & Dragons 5E struggled to balance its genre, and this video game adaptation does the same.
Baldur’s Gate 3 level list
Before I introduce the class ranking system for Baldur’s Gate 3 classes, it’s important to note that this guide will be different from the previous guide that covered abilities and subraces. Of the three, categories are the most complex and have the most significant impact on gameplay. Therefore, ranking them is a challenging task.
Additionally, I believe the class system in BG3 is balanced, meaning that my higher-ranked classes can still perform poorly if not built correctly, while lower-ranked classes can perform well with the right choices. With that in mind, my goal for this guide is to serve as a helpful resource, not just a hierarchical list. My goal is to help readers maximize their enjoyment of the class of their choice by providing a building outline for each subclass.

Baldur’s Gate Category 3
barbarian
Barbarians are warriors who use rage as a powerful buff to increase damage, take less damage, and even gain advantage on Strength checks. At third level, they must choose between Berserker or Wildheart, each offering different upgrades to their rage abilities.
poet
Bards are spellcasters who use the power of song to cast magic. Their spellbook provides a balance of offensive, defensive, and utility spells. They also have the bardic inspiration ability, which provides a bonus to the target’s next roll. The bard must choose between the School of Knowledge or the School of Courage at third level.
Priest
Clerics are versatile spellcasters who can heal and cast spells that aid active situations. They are the most defensive of spellcasters, able to wear medium armor and use shields. At character creation, clerics must choose a domain, which affects their additional spells and abilities. These realms are life, light, or trickery.
Druid
Druids are nature-oriented spellcasters who favor utility and defensive spells. At higher levels, they gain access to more powerful offensive spells. At second level, they can use wild form, taking on the form of an animal, each with different powers. Druids can talk to animals by default.
fighter
Warriors have access to all the weapons and armor options in the game, and you can effectively customize their abilities. When creating your character, you’ll choose a fighting style, such as archery or two-weapon combat. Warriors also gain a powerful action surge at level two, allowing them to act twice per turn.
Paladin
Paladins are excellent martial arts characters who can cast divine spells. At character creation, the Paladin must choose between the Oath of Loyalty or the Ancient Oath. Breaking the oath may cause the paladin to temporarily lose his powers or become an oathbreaker.
Ranger
Rangers are hybrid warriors who use magical and martial abilities to hunt their favorite prey. They must choose a nemesis and an environmental perk, which can provide various benefits. Rangers have limited access to spells, but they are useful.
Overall, Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a wide range of career options, allowing players to choose the class that best suits their play style.
rogue
Rogues are known for their stealth and cunning, making them very adept at sneaking up on their enemies and launching devastating sneak attacks. Their ability to disengage and dash as bonus actions makes them highly maneuverable on the battlefield. Players can choose between two subclasses (thief or arcane trickster) to further customize their rogue character.
wizard
Sorcerers are similar to sorcerers, but have unique abilities such as metamagic that allow them to modify and improve their spells. Players must choose a bloodline during character creation – Dragonborn or Wild Magic – which gives them additional spells and resistances.
Warlock
The Warlock’s spellcasting abilities come from a pact with the Guardian, and players can choose between a Daemon or an Old One. They gain power through dire summons – passive abilities that grant new powers or improve existing ones. Fel blast is their main attack method.
wizard
Wizards are the original spellcasters, and players can choose from various schools of magic to specialize in. They have a balanced number of spell slots and can learn spells through scrolls in exchange for gold. Wizards have access to a variety of spells that can be used to deal with any situation.
Borders Gate Information
Baldur’s Gate is a series of popular role-playing video games that take place primarily in the heart of the West, while Legend of Baal’s Egg extends to Amn and Tethyr. The series is credited with reinvigorating the computer role-playing game genre due to its pauseable, real-time gameplay. The series was originally developed by BioWare and later remastered into HD by Beamdog and Overhaul Games.
The Dark Alliance series is a success, developed by Snowblind Studios, Black Isle Studios, HighVoltage Software and Magic Pockets. A planned third series was canceled due to Interplay abandoning Atari’s D&D PC license. The series was revived in 2012 with the release of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, followed by the second installment, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition.
Beamdog received permission to develop new games using the license and is currently developing two games, codenamed Adventure Y and Adventure Z. Baldur’s Gate III is currently being developed by Larian Studios.
Baldur’s Gate gameplay
Baldur’s Gate is a video game series set in the Forgotten Realms Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The first game in the series tells the story of a character raised in a monastery who must find the murderer of his adoptive father while dealing with the Iron Crisis in the area. An expansion pack for the game called Legends of the Sword Coast adds more content but does not further the main storyline.
In the sequel “Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn”, the player character is captured and taken to the city of Athkatra. They must find out the reason for their capture while exploring Amn and the Underdark. The game features innovations such as more specialization of character classes, improved graphics, and increased interaction with NPCs.
The expansion pack for Baldur’s Gate II, titled Throne of Baal, expands on the original game and concludes the storyline of Baalspane in the first game. “Baldur’s Gate III” is the third major game in the series. It is currently being developed by Larian Studios in collaboration with Wizards of the Coast and is expected to be released on Windows PC in August 2023.
