Baldur’s Gate 3: Investigating the Selenite Resistance Walkthrough
The “Investigating the Selenite Resistance” mission in Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3 takes players on a journey to explore various locations in the Shadow Cursed Lands. This guide is designed to provide players with a detailed walkthrough to successfully complete the mission centered around the Inn of the Last Light.
Start a task
To begin the quest, players need to read a note found in a chest in an abandoned potter’s studio. The chest is located at coordinates X:-54 Y:12 and can be unlocked by picking the lock.
Investigate the Last Light Inn
After reading the description, players will be instructed to investigate the Last Light Inn, located just north of the Abandoned Potter’s Workshop. To help find the hotel, a map shows its exact location.
Upon arriving at the Last Light Inn, players should use the exterior stairs to access the lower level of the main building. Go through the door at coordinates X:-49 Y:144 to reach the cellar.
Inside the cellar, players should enter the first room on the right and obtain the final Light Holding Room Key from the table. This key can be accessed through the cage door located on the south side of the room. Destroying the cracked wall behind the box inside the cell will open a path through the hole created.
Past the cracked wall, the pry door will lead players north, where they will encounter and defeat Minlok. Reading X:34 Y:-695 Havred’s note on the altar in front of the statue can advance the quest.
Investigate Freemasonry
The Masonic Lodge is located north of the teleport point in Liswein Town and can be accessed through the front door at X:-112 Y:-5. Inside the guild, head to the west side of the main room and use the ornate wooden hatch located at X:-124 Y:26.
In the small room accessed through the hatch, examine the northwest wall, where a Keyhole Herald may be found at X:123 Y:-691 with a successful Perception check. Prying the object open will create an opening in the wall, allowing passage to the south. Defeat the shadows and ghosts you encounter.
After destroying the enemies, read the Mason’s Journal above the table at X:108 Y:-749. This action ends the “Investigating Selenite Resistance Group” task and marks it as complete. We encourage players to thoroughly explore Freemasonry before continuing with the second act of Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3: A Guide to Investigating Selenite Resistance
The mission begins by unlocking the Potter’s Chest located within the Ruined Battlefield. However, before venturing out, it is recommended to equip yourself with a flashlight to navigate in the dark or for light protection with Isabelle. When the time is right, players will take on the Mezers, using shadow teleportation to disperse the group. To catch them off guard, it is recommended to attack before combat mode, thereby delaying their counterattack.
Use thieves’ tools to open treasure chests to obtain valuable equipment and mysterious notes. Reading this note will provide insights into selenite-resistant tissue and move exploration forward.

With the knowledge in the notes, head to the basement of the Last Light Hotel located at coordinates “X: 58, 144”.
Select the passage to the left (the door blocked by crates) to speed up the route. Afterward, tear down the cracked wall, triggering a confrontation with the Minlocks.
Once the opponent is subdued, approach the statue on the wooden platform and read Havred’s note on the table behind the location.
Investigating the Freemasonry in Baldur’s Gate 3
Before heading to a Masonic guild, make sure you have adequate protection against the ever-present darkness. Check out the “How to Lift the Curse of Shadow” guide for help, which will allow for unfettered exploration (Blessing of Selune and Blessing of Elven Protection are recommended).
To enter locked areas within the guild, have a lockpick or the Tower Key obtained from Matisse. You can also get a free key to the Last Light Inn if you help Matisse in the early stages of the game. Go to the Masonic Guild entrance at coordinates “X: -105, Y: 0”.
Head deeper into the structure and turn left to reveal an ornate wooden hatch (indicated by the waypoint).
The Keyhole Herald is located behind the elevator and is revealed with a successful Perception check. Use thieves tools to unlock it.
Go forward until you encounter a group of shadow enemies, after defeating them, enter the table in the center of the room. Retrieve Mason’s log at coordinates “X:108, Y:-742”.
Reading the log will culminate the mission, and a thorough exploration of the area can yield valuable loot.

“Baldur’s Gate 3” gameplay
Baldur’s Gate 3 delivers a dynamic role-playing video game experience that seamlessly interweaves a single player journey with cooperative multiplayer gameplay.
