Early life
Banky W, whose original name is Olubankole Wellington, is the proud son of George Bankole Wellington (Father) and Momma Wellington, commonly known as Mrs. Wellington (Mother).
He is originally from Badagry, although his mother is from Calabar, Cross River State.
Banky W was not born in Nigeria; instead, he was born in the United States on March 27, 1981.
Five years after his birth, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wellington, along with his siblings, moved to Nigeria.
As a result, the Yoruba man has four siblings, three brothers and one sister.
Education
Music star Banky W completed his primary and secondary school education in Lagos State, Nigeria before coming to the United States to pursue his undergraduate degree.
There he won a scholarship to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York City.
Career
Strong Ting’s soul singer Banky W began his brilliant career as a student at Rensselaer Polytechnic in New York City. His talent and hard work led him to establish a record label called EME Records while working with GlobalSpec in 2002.
A few years after studying in the United States, the singer moved back to Nigeria and founded another record label in Lagos state.
He scouted talent across the country to fill the void in his new record label, which resulted in the debut of future superstars like Wizkid, Skales, Niyola and Shaydee.
Banky W worked and released his first studio album titled R&BW at a concert called The Grand Love Concert held at the Civic Centre Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Unfortunately, he lost the election to the eventual winner Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Party.
