Bassey, Prince of Wales Edet Okon Otu was born in Late Eld on 18 October 1959. & Mrs. Edet Okon Otu of Adiabo, Odukpani Local Government Area, Cross River State.
He grew up in Jos, Plateau State, where his father was appointed to a Church of Scotland mission, and his hometown is Calabar.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in the Faculty of Social Sciences from the University of Calabar. Before entering politics, he worked in the banking and oil industries.
