Batman sequel starring Robert Pattison delayed until 2027

WEBSITE DESCRIPTION: Robert Pattison’s The Batman sequel has been delayed again, this time due to writer’s block, DC Studios co-head James Gunn broke the news on Friday.

The Batman sequel now has a scheduled release date of October 1, 2027, replacing the previously scheduled October 2, 2026 date.

Gunn attributed the delay to director Matt Reeves’ “thorough” pursuit of the ‘ideal scenario’.

Since its announcement in 2022, the eagerly awaited sequel to Reeves’ 2022 film has fallen into development trouble. Gunn explained that the ‘only’ reason for the delay was the lack of a “complete” script.

He expressed some uncertainty, saying “Matt is dedicated to making the best movie possible and it’s impossible to predict how long the wiring process will take.”

Filming of the Batman sequel is expected to begin in late 2025, with the DC Studios co-head mentioning that once the script is finalized, the entire process – from production, filming and post-production – it will take about two years!
