Battlefield 2042
“Battlefield 2042” is a first-person shooter developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. Released in November 2021, the game is the twelfth major entry in the Battlefield series and is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
It is worth noting that “Battlefield 2042” is different from its predecessor in that it only focuses on multiplayer games and omits the single-player campaign. The game introduces cross-platform gameplay, allowing players on different platforms to fight together. While Battlefield 2042 received mixed reviews from critics, it also faced criticism from players due to technical issues, an apparent lack of features, and certain gameplay changes. The game failed to meet sales expectations set by Electronic Arts.
Despite the challenges, Battlefield 2042 continues to evolve through post-launch updates, patches, and tweaks made by the development team. These efforts are designed to address player concerns, improve technical stability, enhance gameplay, and provide players with a more satisfying experience.

Battlefield 2042 gameplay
“Battlefield 2042” continues the tradition of previous first-person shooter games focusing on multiplayer games. The game is set in the near future and incorporates futuristic weapons, gadgets, and controllable vehicles. Players have access to a variety of tools such as deployable turrets, drones, and the ability to request a vehicle to be airdropped to any location. One notable addition is the “Plus” system, which allows players to customize their weapons on the fly.
The career system in Battlefield 2042 has undergone major changes. Instead of playing a predefined class, players take on the role of a specialist belonging to the four traditional Battlefield gaming professions: Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Recon. Specialists have the flexibility to use any unlocked weapons or gadgets, and each Specialist has unique skills and gadgets. For example, one specialist might be wearing a wingsuit, while another might be wielding a healing pistol
The game retains the “left evolution” and destructive environment in “Battlefield 4”, allowing players to experience a dynamic and ever-changing battlefield. Battlefield 2042 introduces extreme weather effects such as tornadoes and sandstorms that can impact gameplay. The game launches with seven maps available, including the vast “Breakaway” map, the largest in the history of the Battlefield series.
The game has three main game modes. “Total War” includes the “Breakthrough” and “Conquest” classic modes. Conquest involves a team capturing a control point, while Breakthrough requires one team to capture a control point defended by the other team. Both modes can be played with AI-controlled players.
The PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S versions support matches with up to 128 players, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions can accommodate up to 64 players. Battlefield 2042 introduces cross-platform play across PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, but only for players on the same platform as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The community-driven platform called Battlefield Portal allows players to create custom multiplayer modes and features maps from past Battlefield games such as Battlefield 1942, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3. This mode enables players to modify core gameplay elements through a web-based script application, including health, weapon loadouts, and movement.
The cooperative multiplayer mode Danger Zone involves teams racing to retrieve and extract data drives from falling satellite debris. AI-controlled enemy combatants guard the data drive. Successful withdrawals will earn players “Dark Market Points” that can be used to purchase new weapons and upgrades for the mode.
