Early life
BBNaija Phyna was born into the prestigious Otabor family in 1997. She was named Josephine Otabor by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Otabor.
She was born in Lagos and spent most of her formative years in the city. She and her family lived in the mainland of Lagos State. She also lived in Auchi, Edo State for a while. Phyna hails from the South-South geopolitical zone and is a native of Edo State.
She comes from a close-knit and devout family. Phyna’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otabor, made sure that she and her siblings were raised in the fear of God and good morals.
As a young girl, BBNaija Phyna was a member of her local church choir and drama unit. During her high school days, she was also active in her school’s drama club.

After graduating from high school, she could not immediately enter university. So, BBNaija Phyna decided to study at a Polytechnic. Phyna is an alumnus of Auchi Polytechnic, located in her native state.
Career
BBNaija Phyna discovered her love for modelling during her student days and decided to make a career in the modelling industry. She started applying for modelling jobs in Edo and Lagos State. She also auditioned for modelling roles in Commercials and Television Commercials. She was lucky enough to be selected for some of these commercial modelling jobs.
By the time Phyna graduated from Auchi Polytechnic, she had built up a good portfolio of work. She was soon signed to a modelling agency and began securing more and higher paying contracts.
Over the years, she has worked with some of Nigeria’s leading and small brands. She has also built strong working relationships with other professionals in the Nigerian creative industry, such as creative directors, photographers, fashion stylists, videographers, art directors, makeup artists and brand managers.
Phyna is also a budding content creator. Several brands have hired her to create content to promote their businesses on social media. As a digital creator, she has experience and knowledge in creating content that generates online engagement.
To boost her career in the creative industry, BBNaija Phyna decided to become a reality TV personality. She auditioned for a spot on Big Brother Naija in May 2022. After passing through various audition stages, she was selected as one of the 24 housemates for Season 7 of the show. She was announced to the world on July 23, 2023.
