Gugulethu Kumalo (born 27 June 1991), better known by her stage name Berita, is a Zimbabwean singer, songwriter and music producer. Her music is a fusion of soul, Afro-jazz, pop and South African dance music.
She is the founder and owner of independent music company Assali Music. Berita (Gugulethu Khumalo) is also the founder and mastermind of Women of Music Business (WOMB).
WOMB is a pan-African women’s empowerment organization.

Early life and education
Gugulethu Khumalo, popularly known as Berita, was born in Bulawayo on 27 June 1991. She is the eldest daughter in a family of five.
Her parents were Rio Tinto teachers in Bulawayo and Zombe where she spent part of her childhood. Currently, TheCityCeleb is yet to confirm the identity of her mother and siblings.
Belita (Guguletu Kumalo) attended St Martin de Porres Primary School in her hometown of Zombe and Nketha Primary School in Bulawayo but later transferred to Greenfield Primary School in Bulawayo.
Due to the severe economic and political environment in Zimbabwe, she moved to New Zealand with her family in 2007 in search of a wider world, and then went to Walter Sisulu University in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa to continue her studies.

Belita (Gugulethu Kumalo) was left heartbroken by her lover in 2018, but she has found love again. According to her boyfriend, he played a major role in helping her get her life back together.
Belita (Gugulethu Kumalo) eventually married the man who reshaped her life; her husband’s name is NOTA Nhlamulo Baloyi, professionally known as Nota Baloyi.

In 2012, Berita (Gugulethu Khumalo) released her first studio album, Conquering Spirit, which peaked at number 1 on iTunes. The album also earned her RISA Gold status and won the Best African Pop Album award at the 2013 Metro FM Awards.
In one of the songs on the album, “Mwana Wa Mai,” she performs with the legendary Hugh Masekela and Oliver Mtukudzi.
The following year, she collaborated with Black Motion on a remix of “Mwana Wa Mai”.
In 2016, she also participated in Coke Studio and released the song “Vusu Yeke”, which she co-wrote with rapper Yanga Chief.
One of her songs, “Ezizweni”, reached number one on Metro FM’s Top 40 and Ukhozi FM’s Top 20 charts. One of her debut singles, “Ndicel’ikiss”, reached number 21 on the RAMS Radio Monitor Chart.
