Warhammer 40k: The Best Melee Weapons in Undertide
In Warhammer 40,000: Undertide, melee weapons play a vital role in survival against the ruthless enemies in the lair. Each weapon has its advantages and suits different play styles. Here’s an overview of some of the best melee weapons in Undertide, based on their effectiveness, special abilities, and suitability for different roles:
Iris Mk V Flame Sword:
A mind-powered sword that cuts through enemies when its energy field is active, making it ideal for targeting specific enemies. However, it poses dangers and needs to be used with caution.
Maccabian Mk IV Dueling Sword:
A fast and accurate weapon, ideal for psykers seeking close combat. Its precision allows for effective elimination of enemies, especially targeting weak points.
Achlys Mk I Power Hammer:
A heavy club-like weapon that when powered delivers shocking blows capable of shattering bones and skulls. For Ogryn, it’s effective at clearing rooms and weakening tougher enemies.
Rashad Mk II Tomahawk:
The weapon excels at penetrating armor, making it effective against heavily armored enemies. Its unique attack bypasses staggered slows and armor, although it requires good timing.
Bull Butcher Mk III Meat Cleaver:
Deadly for a single attack, but less than ideal for crowd control. Best used with mid-range weapons for strategic targeting of special enemies.
Orestes Mk IV Assault Chain Ax:
Similar to the Chain Sword, but does more damage and has a slightly smaller reach. Its ability to rend makes it effective against armored enemies and is a favorite among berserkers.
Crucis Mk II Thunder Hammer:
Although the swing speed is slow, it is great for clearing crowds. Its explosive power and amazing abilities allow it to deal with powerful enemies.
Cadia Mk IV Assault Chain Sword:
The combination of a chainsaw and a sword provides a powerful attack on a single opponent and a large area of attack, making it adaptable to a variety of situations.
Orox Mk II Battle Maul and Mk II Slab Shield:
When used by the Ogre, this combination is imposing, capable of denting an enemy’s head and providing defense, while the shield also immobilizes the enemy.
Tigrus Mk II Heavy Eviscerator:
The extra length and weight of a two-handed chainsword provides greater reach and stagger. Its Rend attack and suitability for the Zealot’s aggressive playstyle make it a top choice for melee combat.
Each of these weapons brings unique advantages to different scenarios and play styles, giving players a variety of options to master and use effectively in the challenging world of Warhammer 40,000: Undertow.

Warhammer 40k: Undertide
Warhammer 40,000: Undertide is a video game set in the world of Warhammer 40,000. This is a first-person action game produced by Fatshark. The game is similar in spirit to the Warhammer: Vermintide series. It was first released on Microsoft Windows on November 30, 2022. It was subsequently released on Xbox Series X/S on October 4, 2023.
Warhammer 40k: Undertide gameplay
In the game, just like Warhammer: Vermintide 2, four players team up to fight waves of computer-controlled enemies. But here, instead of a fixed role, players can create their own characters, choosing their profession, appearance, and gender. There are four classes: Veteran, Zealot, Ogryn and Psyker, each with their own role such as shooting, support, tanking or dealing damage.
All of these classes have a regenerating shield. Unlike Vermintide 2, some missions take place in the same location, and they may have additional objectives for better rewards. The game has different difficulty settings that affect the number of enemies and the damage done.
While playing the game, you can earn random rewards or purchase weapons using in-game currency. There is also a contract system for obtaining specific weapons. You can upgrade and improve weapons through crafting to make them stronger.
Warhammer 40k: Undertide plot
In the game’s story, written by Dan Abnett, you play as an agent who is initially imprisoned on a prison transport called Tancred’s Fortress for a crime selected during character creation. Nurgle’s Chaos followers attack the ship, and you rescue Zora the Interpreter. In exchange for being spared the death penalty, Zola conscripts you into the Inquisition.
Based on the Star of Sorrow ship, the Inquisition sends you to various parts of the Tertium city on the planet Atoma Prime to investigate and fight Nurgle’s infestation and cult. As you delve into the depths of Tetium and disrupt the plans of the Chaos Cult, you earn the trust of various members of the Morningstar Corps, all under the leadership of Inquisitor Glendir.
However, it was revealed that a spy within the Wail Star had been aiding the cult by sending reports and causing damage to the Inquisition’s efforts. Interrogator Rangnick is Grundy’s assistant, who investigates and fully accepts you into the Inquisition once you gain trust, while simultaneously exposing and eliminating traitors.
This story is constantly evolving, similar to a live service, and is updated weekly. This continuous narrative progression follows an overarching storyline.
