Big Sean pushes back against the pressure to marry Jhené Aiko

Big Sean won’t be popping the question to Jhené Aiko anytime soon, but he thinks she’s the right person.

TMZ reached out to the rapper to address the growing speculation about his relationship with Aiko after he claimed he wasn’t ready for marriage despite their relationship lasting nearly a decade and share a common parental relationship.

“Life is short so you have to do what you feel,” the rapper told TMZ. “But no, I don’t [feel pressured]”, he said about social media’s assertion that he played with Aiko’s feelings or led her on.

However, he took the time to note that Aiko is “the one” for him, even if marriage doesn’t seem to be in the couple’s near future.

Speaking to TMZ in Beverly Hills and in a separate interview with Charlamagne Tha God, the rapper denied recent engagement rumors due to Aiko wearing a large diamond ring during public appearances. Aiko has previously clarified that the ring is merely a fashion accessory.

“There’s no secret industrial marriage here,” Sean told Charlamagne on ‘Out of Context’, addressing persistent public pressure to marry. The couple, who share a 20-month-old son Noah Hasani and work together as musical duo TWENTY88, have experienced ups and downs in their relationship throughout their 10-year history, which makes Sean note that they are “not perfect”, despite the idea that it may seem that way.

Sean, whose real name is Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, said that rushing into marriage could be “fear-based thinking”, leading to high divorce rates. He emphasized the need for personal development and proper prioritization before taking that step.

“We focus a lot on family, focus a lot on career and everything,” Sean explains, pointing out that these areas have overshadowed relationship work which he believes is necessary for marriage.
