Billie Eilish beats The Weeknd to become Spotify’s most-streamed artist every month

Move over, The Weeknd! Billie Eilish is currently the most-listened-to artist per month on music streaming platform Spotify.

On Monday, the 22-year-old singer officially surpassed the 34-year-old artist in monthly streamers, replacing The Weekend — whose real name is Abel Tesfaye — as Spotify’s most-streamed artist each month, according to Billboard.

As of writing, Eilish has 100.1 million monthly listeners on the platform, beating Tesfaye’s 99.8 million active streamers. This makes the “What Was I Made For?” singer the third artist to surpass 100 million on Spotify. The other two are The Weeknd and Taylor Swift, who currently have 91.7 million monthly listeners.

Before Eilish achieved the feat, Tesfaye voiced his support for her last week via X, formerly Twitter. The “Blinding Lights” singer tweeted “Let’s go!” along with heart, prayer, and line graph emojis while retweeting a post showing Eilish’s updated Spotify stats.

At the time, Eilish was less than 1 million away from hitting 100 million listeners and surpassing The Weeknd’s monthly listenership.

Eilish’s latest milestone, however, comes as no surprise, as her music has racked up billions of streams on the platform. To date, eight of her 82 songs are in Spotify’s Billions Club, an exclusive designation given to songs with over a billion streams.

Eilish’s eight songs with billions of streams are as follows:

  1. “Bury a Friend” – 1.01 billion
  2. “Idontwannabeyouanymore” – 1.09 billion
  3. “Happier than ever” – 1.3 billion
  4. “Ocean Eyes” – 1.4 billion
  5. “Everything I Wanted” – 1.6 billion
  6. “When the Party’s Over” – 1.8 billion
  7. “Bad Guy” – 2.5 billion
  8. “Lovely” with Khalid – 2.8 billion

For comparison, Tesfaye has more streams on Spotify’s Billions Club. According to the latest count, he has 17 songs with more than a billion streams. The highest of those is “Blinding Lights,” with 4.4 billion.

Meanwhile, Swift has 12 songs with more than a billion streams on Spotify. Her biggest hit on the platform is “Cruel Summer,” with 2.4 billion streams.
