Billie Eilish’s rapid rise in the entertainment world has led to debates about whether she is a product of nepotism. It is a term used for children whose parents’ reputation and relationships help them get ahead.
However, her mother, Maggie Baird, has a different opinion on the matter. In a recent article for Glamor magazine’s Women of the Year issue, she shared her perspective.
Baird was in a 1999 episode of “Friends” and during the interview, she revealed the real-life reasons behind securing her role on the show. Finneas is just two years old and Eilish has just been born.
“I thought it was funny. Because it came out and it was like, ‘Oh, Billie is a nepo baby,'” she said. “And I said, ‘Did you know that I got that Friends episode because Am I going to lose my health insurance?'”
Baird revealed in the interview that she and her husband, Patrick O’Connell, are working-class actors, making ends meet while prioritizing quality time with their children. The mother of two emphasized that their children now enjoy opportunities that they could not have before.
“The industry is mostly people like us or even people who don’t even look like us, people who can’t even do it,” she added. So when all these things happened to our children, we never took a stand.”
During the 1980s to the 2010s, Baird was best known for his presence on popular shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm, The X-Files, The West Wing and Charmed.
Despite not getting the lead role, she explained: “I think people don’t really understand that there’s a whole industry of creative people and they’re working and they’re struggling, and they have complete lives. happy, and they feel creative.” , and they feel satisfied.”
“But it’s a very different life than being on this side of the door, where you’re suddenly playing in this other arena,” Baird added.
In 2012, Baird started his own business to produce an original film called “Life Inside Out”. She worked with Finneas and was able to successfully fund the project through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
“I want to show my children that you can do something,” she said. “You don’t have to wait for someone to say yes to you. You just have to make it happen.”
Baird believes that this initiative, while perhaps not directly responsible for her children’s success, is important in demonstrating a proactive approach to creativity.
She added: “Because you’re expecting your child to go much further than you, you still have your own life. You can still do, you can be creative. That’s just as important.”
