Remember the days of Tyler “Psycho T” Hansbrough? During his playing days at UNC, he was a key enforcer and rotational player early in his career with the Indiana Pacers. He was part of Paul George’s first playoff run and was a backup to Danny Granger there.

Tyler Hansbrough turned 37 last November. He played his final NBA game for the Charlotte Hornets during the 2014-15 campaign, capping off a seven-year run in the best league in the world. He’s played internationally since then, and the gears are still turning inside him enough to keep him wanting to play.

Tyler Hansbrough’s career
After four great years at UNC, Hansbrough joined the Indiana Pacers. After playing four seasons there, the team decided not to re-sign him. When that happened, he chose to take his talents to the surging Toronto Raptors. He played out a two-year, $6 million contract before moving on.
This time, he went to the Charlotte Hornets. He wasn’t a huge part of the rotation, but he provided good depth. The team made it to the first round of the playoffs, where they lost in seven games to the Miami Heat.
Hansbrough made the playoffs in six of his seven NBA seasons.
He played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the D-League after his time in Charlotte.

Hansbrough started only 50 of his 428 NBA games. He finished his career averaging 6.7 points and 4.2 rebounds, shooting 43.9 percent from the field. That’s low for a player who only shoots inside the arc.

Hansbrough was selected No. 13 overall by the Pacers in the 2009 NBA Draft, behind Duke’s Gerald Henderson and ahead of Louisville’s Earl Clark. He was one of two players selected by Indy in the draft, as they also selected UConn guard AJ Price late in the second round.
Three guys Hansbrough started with in college were also picked up. Danny Green, Wayne Ellington and Ty Lawson found new homes in 2009.

Tyler Hansbrough has a younger brother, Ben, who he played with in the NBA. After a stellar career at Notre Dame, Ben found his way to the Pacers during the 2012-13 campaign. He made 28 appearances in the regular season and another six in the playoffs.
