He was born in Nigeria and hails from the southwestern region of the country. This Yoruba artist is a native of Ogun State. But he was born and raised in the city of Lagos.
Blackman Wiebe comes from a Christian family, so his parents named him after the biblical figure David. He and his sister Deborah Bello grew up with good moral standards and Christian beliefs.
Growing up in his parents’ home, he discovered his creative side by participating in extracurricular activities at school and serving in some ministries at church. He discovered that he could sing and compose music. His love for music was nurtured by listening to the top musicians in the Nigerian and Western music scene.
educate
Blackman Wiebe’s middle-class background gave him the opportunity to receive a quality education at a young age.
He received his nursery, primary and secondary education at top private schools in Lagos.
He is currently an undergraduate student at a famous university in China.
Profession
Despite having a keen interest in music and having composed dozens of songs, Blackman Wibe’s music career did not take off until 2020. Forced to stay at home due to the global pandemic and the indefinite Academic Staff Union of Universities strike (ASUU Strike), he had plenty of time to pursue his passion for music as he chose to take the profession seriously.
During quarantine, Blackman-Wibey wrote many songs in notebooks and recorded some in a studio near his home. Buoyed by the positive reception some of his early music received, he began promoting his songs on social media.
Along with this, he also covered hit songs by other famous singers. Posting these songs on his social media pages helped to increase his fan base as more and more people were exposed to his music.
Blackman Vibe’s first single of 2022 was released in January. The song is titled “Dorime” and features a guest appearance from fellow artist Otega Billz. Since its release, the song has been trending on the local charts for several weeks, ranking in the top ten of new releases by emerging artists in the country. The song has also achieved great success in terms of streaming and downloads, which can be attributed to heavy airplay on several local radio stations. The single was produced by Stpontrakk and mixed and produced by Mo’ Mide.
He was invited to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, to perform at a show organized by students of the university in February 2022. The young artist stood out at the event with a thrilling performance that saw hundreds of people singing and dancing to his music.
Additionally, in February, Blackman Vibe released another hit single, “Transfer,” which solidified his status as one of the artists to watch out for. The song’s visuals were directed by director JK.
Blackman Vibe joins as a guest artist on Kapo Lion’s “Hustle,” one of the songs from the latter’s newly released EP project.
The talented singer has covered hits like “Baddest Boy” (Skiibii’s original song), “Omo Ope” (Asake’s original song featuring Olamide) and many more and has found success.
