early life
Bongi Ndaba was born in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.
She lived with her grandmother in the Eastern Cape before moving to Margate.
Bongi Ndaba said she has loved writing since she was a child.
Sometimes she would sit alone and write all sorts of strange fictions, and sometimes she would write about the people around her.
Early in her life, she auditioned to be an actress at a theatre company in Durban and was directly selected by theatre practitioner Themi Venturas.

Bungi Ndaba later studied performing arts at the Durban University of Technology and also studied education at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
After completing her studies, she moved to Johannesburg because of television job opportunities there.

Bongi Ndaba’s writing skills were first recognised by the Market Theatre’s New Writers Festival and he was allowed to work with novelist, poet and playwright Zakes Mda.
After a six-month search, she was selected from 230 candidates and, along with eight other candidates, was offered an internship on the soap opera Generations. Bunge was named head writer in 2012 and remained in the position until his resignation in 2014.
Between 2016 and 2017, Bongi Ndaba served as the head writer for the popular South African soap opera Isindigo.
She was accused of hate speech after the 29th episode of the show sparked controversy. The episode was based on a scene in which two white racists buried a black man alive, and the release date of the scene was also April 26, 2017, which happened to be South Africa’s Independence Day, which falls on April 27 every year.
During her tenure as head writer for Insidigo, ratings for the show surged, reaching all-time highs with more than 1.7 million viewers.
This brought Insidigo the most attention it had ever received. However, when Bongi Ndaba resigned as the editor-in-chief of Insidigo and left, the number of followers immediately dropped sharply.
