Bonginkosi Success Madikizela (born 15 March 1975) is a prominent politician. He has had a notable career in South African politics, particularly as a prominent member of the Democratic Alliance (DA).
Over the years, he has held various positions within the party. From 2009 to 2021, Madikizela was a dedicated member of the Western Cape Provincial Assembly, representing his constituents with dedication.

Early life
Bonginkosi Madikizela, a prominent South African politician, was born in the beautiful town of Port Shepstone in the province of Natal on March 15, 1975. Notably, his aunt was the legendary anti-apartheid activist Winnie Mandela, wife of Nelson Mandela.
Tragedy struck in 1990 when his brother was tragically murdered, forcing Bonginkosi to move to Welbedacht in Chatsworth. During this time, he teamed up with a community leader to form the Welbedacht Development Forum to support the area’s impoverished residents.
Bonginkosi Madikizela’s journey to pursue a career in human resource management began with the support of his brother who enrolled him in a computer school. He continued his studies at University of South Africa and worked as a car guard at an amusement park. After completing computer training upon returning to Chatsworth, Madikizela joined the Chatsworth Children’s Welfare Foundation. In 2002, he returned to Cape Town, where he became actively involved in politics.
Education
In 1991, Bonginkosi Madikizela reached a pivotal moment when he stopped studying at Asoka High School and joined the workforce at a shoe factory in Croftdene. It was not until 1998 that he moved to Cape Town, where he lived with his brother.
This change provided him with the vital support and encouragement to continue his studies. Guided by his brother, Madikizela enrolled in a computer school, marking the beginning of his journey into human resource management.
He then pursued formal education in this field at a prestigious university. University of South Africa (UNISA). Despite the initial setbacks in her academic journey, Bonginkosi Madikizela’s determination and hard work eventually paid off, helping her achieve her goals with the strong support of her family and her own perseverance.
Career
In 2005, Bonginkosi Madikizela gained notoriety for his leadership when he mobilized disaffected ANC members in the Makhaza area of Khayelitsha. These members had backed former Western Cape Premier and provincial ANC President Ebrahim Rasool in a leadership contest against Mcebisi Skwatsha. Madikizela’s ability to unite and guide people towards a common goal set him apart, putting him in the spotlight and earning him the respect of his colleagues and followers.
Following Skwatsha’s victory in the leadership election, Madikizela and some Rasool supporters in Khayelitsha claimed they were marginalized within the party.
In addition, they were excluded from the ANC’s list of potential candidates for the upcoming 2006 local government elections. Feeling marginalized, Bonginkosi Madikizela and several other ANC members, including party councillors, announced their intention to run as independent candidates. As a result of this decision, they were expelled from the party in early 2006.
