Norman Julius “Boomer” Esiason, born April 17, 1961, is a former American football quarterback, best known for his 14-season career in the National Football League (NFL) famous. He primarily played for the Cincinnati Bengals and played for the Maryland Terrapins in college before being drafted by the Bengals in the second round of the 1984 NFL draft.
Esiason’s stellar career included standouts with the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals. His peak came in the 1988 season, which earned him the title of NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) and led the Bengals to Super Bowl XXIII, despite losing badly against stiff competition.
Esiason was recognized with four Pro Bowl selections and one first-team All-Pro selection. After a decade in Cincinnati, he played three seasons with the Jets before a brief stint with the Cardinals. In 1997, Esiason returned to the Bengals for his final season.
