Ugbekile David Osemeke (born 10 May 2001) is an emerging Afro-fusion singer and songwriter who rose to fame after signing a record deal with Mavin Records.

David, also known by his stage name Boy Spyce, was unveiled as the latest artist signed to Mavin Records on April 14, 2022.

24 hours after the signing news was exposed online, he released his first EP of the same name “Boy Spyce”.

The EP contains five songs, namely, ‘Dreams’, ‘Wayo’, ‘Destiny’, ‘Nobody’ and ‘Bad Things.’ Boy Spyce is currently the most streamed project in Nigeria.

early life

Boy Spies has lived in Lagos State all his life. He grew up in Isoro, a popular area in Lagos mainland, and resided in Jakande Estate.

He was born on May 10, 2001 as David Ugbekile Osemeke and is a member of Mr. and Mrs. Ugbekile’s family.

Boy Spyce is from the South-South region and is an indigene of Edo State. He comes from a family of eight. He has five siblings and is the youngest child in the family.

Boy Spyce has loved music since he was a child. While growing up, he was heavily influenced by Afrobeats and hip-hop music created by Nigerian artists. He developed a passion for music by listening to songs on the radio and became interested in a career in music.

Mavin Records CEO Don Jazzy noticed Boy Spyce’s musical talent. The music executive decided to take the aspiring artist under his wing and invited him to join the Mavin Academy. By joining the academy, Don Jazzy was able to work with Boy Spyce to perfect his music and improve his songwriting skills. During this phase, the singer began recording the songs that would make up his Extended Play.

After a few months at the Academy, Mavin Records offered him a record contract and he joined the Mavin family. The record company launched Boy Spyce on April 14, 2022. In keeping with the label’s tradition of signing new artists, he released his debut EP as soon as the news of his signing hit the Internet.

Likewise, his debut EP is also self-titled, another tradition for Mavin Family, as are other label colleagues Rema, Ruger, Ayra Starr and Magixx, who have also released self-titled debut EPs.
