24 hours after the signing news was exposed online, he released his first EP of the same name “Boy Spyce”.
The EP contains five songs, namely, ‘Dreams’, ‘Wayo’, ‘Destiny’, ‘Nobody’ and ‘Bad Things.’ Boy Spyce is currently the most streamed project in Nigeria.

early life
Boy Spies has lived in Lagos State all his life. He grew up in Isoro, a popular area in Lagos mainland, and resided in Jakande Estate.
He was born on May 10, 2001 as David Ugbekile Osemeke and is a member of Mr. and Mrs. Ugbekile’s family.
Boy Spyce is from the South-South region and is an indigene of Edo State. He comes from a family of eight. He has five siblings and is the youngest child in the family.
Boy Spyce has loved music since he was a child. While growing up, he was heavily influenced by Afrobeats and hip-hop music created by Nigerian artists. He developed a passion for music by listening to songs on the radio and became interested in a career in music.
This led him to start writing songs in his free time and singing these songs to the amazement of his classmates. He wrote his first song when he was in fifth grade. As a secondary school student, Boy Spyce represented the school in different music competitions and won several honors in the process.

To kick-start his music career, Boy Spyce began singing covers of popular songs and posting them on the internet. By constantly doing this, he became popular on social media as people looked forward to his covers. Videos of Boy Spyce singing went viral on social media several times, which helped draw attention to his talent.
Boy Spyce’s first single as an artist was “Weather For Two”, released in 2019.
Boy Spyce covered “Brown Skin Girl” by Beyoncé, Wizkid, Blue Ivy Carter and SAINt JHN on July 29, 2019. He recorded a cover of Davido’s “Jowo” and released it to the public on March 30, 2021. He released a cover of Gyakie’s “Forever” on April 19, 2021. He also covered “Essence” by Wizkid and Tems on March 24, 2021, which went viral on the internet.
Mavin Records CEO Don Jazzy noticed Boy Spyce’s musical talent. The music executive decided to take the aspiring artist under his wing and invited him to join the Mavin Academy. By joining the academy, Don Jazzy was able to work with Boy Spyce to perfect his music and improve his songwriting skills. During this phase, the singer began recording songs that would make up his Extended Play.
After a few months at the Academy, Mavin Records offered him a record contract and he joined the Mavin family. The record company launched Boy Spyce on April 14, 2022. In keeping with the label’s tradition of signing new artists, he released his debut EP as soon as the news of his signing hit the Internet.
Likewise, his debut EP is also self-titled, another Mavin Family tradition that has also seen the release of self-titled debut EPs by fellow label members Rema, Ruger, Ayra Starr and Magixx.

Boy Spyce signed with the record label a few months after Magixx was revealed as Mavin’s newest artist. Therefore, Boy Spyce is the second artist to sign with the record label in six months.
The total listening time of the Boy Spyce EP is 14 minutes. Songs on the project include Dreams, Wayo, Destiny, Nobody, and Bad Things. The music video for Nobody was released on April 15, 2022. The video was shot and directed by ace music video director TG Omori.
