Brandon James was never a part of Discovery. Street Outlawsbut he entered as one of 64 drivers from all over invited to participate in “Mega Cash Days”. He competed against James Finney, Mike Murillo, Ryan Martin, Shawn Ellington, Justin Shearer, Kye Kelley and other notorious drivers in the tournament.

Hosted by “BoostedGT” Chris Hamilton, the Mega Cash Days double-elimination format means a driver can lose and still advance—and win. However, he had no intention of following this format, and went undefeated, tied, and unscored over the course of six races.

He defeated Dennis Bailey in the finals for a prize of $100,000 and won. In total, he pocketed $135,000.

“We went out there wanting to win, but the expectation was to go round after round… we certainly didn’t think we were going to win without getting beaten. It was never like that, we just wanted to prove that we were a team, and whether we won or not, people knew who we were,” Brandon revealed.

Brandon represents Solar Need Racing and is the team’s sole driver. In addition to racing, the company offers services such as solar projects, sustainable and renewable roofing systems, and residential and commercial construction.

Brandon built his Mustang using a California Street Machine, which powers the car with a twin-turbocharged Chevrolet 421 CID engine. The family-owned company specializes in precision machining and precision tolerances, with a long history in racing.

Over the years, he raced at many different tracks. For him, Sacramento was his home track, just an hour and a half away. He and his team worked hard to make it to every race. The longest he ever drove was 6 hours to get to a race, only to wait 4 days in the rain and never get to race.

Interesting Facts: Brandon crashed his car and his friend Dan came to his rescue. He donated a 1967 Nova that had a blown hemi. They worked on the car, and Brandon ended up using it for NoPrep.
