Early life and education
Strongman was born on September 6, 1983 in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, United States. He was raised by his father, Rick Scherr, while his mother’s name is not known to the media.
Strongman grew up with his older sister, Hannah Scherr. He attended Bandys High School. Strongman is white and Christian.
Career
Braun Strowman, formerly known as Scherr, signed with WWE in early 2013 and was assigned to the WWE Performance Center. He took the ring name Braun Strowman, a reference to MLB player Ryan Braun.
Strowman made his professional wrestling debut for NXT in December 2014, defeating Chad Gable. He then made his official roster debut on the August 24, 2015 episode of Raw, attacking Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns and becoming the newest member of The Wyatt Family.
Over the next year, Strowman had several matches and pay-per-view appearances with The Wyatt Family. Notable moments included his elimination of multiple opponents in the 2016 Royal Rumble match and participation in an eight-man elimination match at TLC 2015.
During the 2016 WWE draft, Strowman was separated from The Wyatt Family and drafted to the Raw brand. This was the beginning of his singles career, as he began defeating local opponents and changing his appearance.
