Early life and education
Brayden Maynard was born on September 20, 1996 in Adelaide, Australia. He was raised by his parents, Peter Maynard and Donna Maynard, and two siblings, Corey Maynard and Karli Maynard.

Career
Maynard was selected by Collingwood in the 2014 AFL draft, being selected with pick 3 and 30th overall. Following his selection, he was delighted to join fellow selectors Jordan De Goey, Darcy Moore and Matthew Goodyear, having played with them in the AFL Under-18 Championship.
Maynard made his AFL debut for Collingwood in 2015 against Hawthorn. After the 2017 season, he signed a contract extension with Collingwood until the end of the 2020 season. In 2018, Maynard played in Collingwood’s losing Grand Final against West Coast, with some controversy surrounding a blocked free kick late in the match.
In 2019, Collingwood signed Maynard to a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2022 season. That year, he finished fifth in the Copeland Cup competition and delivered a humorous speech, including a light-hearted jab at former Collingwood assistant coach Justin Longmuir.
Maynard played his 100th game for Collingwood in round 3 of the 2020 season. He was selected in the All-Australian team as a defender in 2022. Ahead of the 2023 season, Maynard will wear the number 4 jersey, previously worn by Brodie Grundy, who was traded to Melbourne.
