Britney Spears’ child support is ending, but her financial relationship with her son may still exist

Britney Spears is close to finalizing child support payments for sons Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18. But a lawyer revealed that the financial support for their lifestyle could continue for some time yet.

Mark Vincent Kaplan, the attorney representing former Kevin Federline, pointed out that the “Baby One More Time” singer will continue to have financial obligations under the terms of the judgment.

Regular and periodic child support payments will cease, the attorney told Page Six. [but] there may be other expenses that she is willing to pay in certain categories even if they are the majority [age].”

While specific details of the agreement between Federline and Spears were not disclosed, Kaplan noted that expenses such as college tuition are likely to be part of the pop star’s financial responsibilities.

Previously, the former DJ received monthly payments of $40,000 from Spears until their eldest son turned 18 in September 2023.

With Jayden celebrating his 18th birthday on September 12, under California regulations, child support is expected to terminate upon high school graduation or, at the latest, when the child turned 19 years old, as Kaplan mentioned.

In the near future, Jayden is set to graduate from high school in Hawaii, where he has lived with his father, Preston, and his half-siblings since August 2023.

As for Spears no longer paying child support, his 46-year-old ex expressed gratitude for her steady payments throughout the children’s childhood years, as Kaplan stated.

This comes as Jayden recently reconnected with his mother after a long period of separation. Sources told the newspaper earlier this week that the mother-daughter pair have bonded and spent significant time together.

“Britney is so excited to have her baby back. Everything is going in the right direction.”

Federline was also informed of Jayden’s intention to visit his mother in Los Angeles.

According to Kaplan, “He is very close with all of his children. If the boys feel comfortable improving their relationship with their mother, Kevin is all for it.”

“Both of these boys are adults. Kevin supports them making their own decisions and what they feel is best for them.”
