Carrie Underwood’s ‘American Idol’ Takeover Causes Concern as Friends Fear Upcoming Disruption: Report

Carrie Underwood has just been announced as the new judge on “American Idol,” replacing Katy Perry, but this exciting opportunity could have a big impact on her personal life.

The 41-year-old Grammy-winning artist — who won the competition nearly two decades ago — will join Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan on the judging panel of “American Idol” Season 23.

However, a new report says Underwood is expected to face huge pressure in her new role and friends are concerned it could significantly disrupt her life.

An anonymous insider spoke to Radar Online saying, “This is not going to be an easy transition. There are a lot of people who want to see her collapse. The pressure is putting Carrie at risk of making her life a mess!”

They continued, “And there was a lot of trouble and knife-sharpening going on before she arrived.”

In a recent interview with 100.7 The Wolf radio station, Bryan offered some advice to Underwood ahead of filming Season 23, joking that the “Jesus Take the Wheel” hitmaker should consider increasing the frequency of her therapy sessions to better handle the challenges of her new role.

While his advice may be valuable, the source said Underwood must carefully evaluate the best approach for her health.

“It’s a huge step for Carrie to be able to take herself to Central America and she’s getting paid well for it, but she’s under no illusions that it’s going to be easy,” the insider explains.

“The stress level that comes with this is immense!”

It’s worth noting that throughout her seven years as a judge on “American Idol,” Perry has faced constant criticism from the show’s audience and fans.

According to Radar, the growing challenges facing Perry, who earns $25 million per season from the show, at the end of her tenure have raised concerns for Underwood. They note that having a resilient mindset will be important for the country star moving forward.

Additionally, insiders say the show’s producers are hoping Underwood will replicate the success of “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson, who excelled as a coach on “The Voice.”

“Bosses are relieved to have a glamorous country star of her caliber on board, plus she has a history with the show,” the source said.

“But the big question here is whether she can handle the pressure, as bosses are counting on her to hit the ground running and score high ratings. Plus, there’s how she’ll react to the inevitable online trolling,” they added.

Music Times could not independently verify this information. Underwood has not publicly addressed the claims.
