early life
CDQ was born to Mr. and Mrs. Yusuf on May 6, 1985. Although he was born in Orile, Lagos State, he is from Ilorin, Kwara State. He comes from a Muslim family and his name is Sodiq Abubakar.
CDQ spent his early years in Orile before moving to Ilorin for his secondary school education. After graduating from secondary school with honors, he returned to Lagos State.

He enrolled at Lagos State University and graduated four years later with a degree in economics.
CDQ first became interested in music in high school, focusing on rap music. Initially, he started with English rap, but over time he turned to native rap music, rapping in his native dialect, Yoruba.
Profession
CDQ started making music professionally in 2008 at the age of 23. He was a backing vocalist for Dagrin for a while before rapping in English with MI Abaga.
In December 2012, CDQ’s career started to take a turn for the better when he won a rap competition at Weekly Industry Nite. This brought him success and Masterkraft offered him a record deal, which he accepted. This was in 2013.
CDQ became a household name in the country in 2014. He released the hit single “Indomie” featuring Olamide. For the remix of the song, he collaborated with Afrobeats singer Davido. The song was produced by ace producer Masterkraft.
He achieved another commercial success with the song “Nowo E Soke” featuring Wizkid. The song was the lead single from his debut album, Quality. The single won the Best African Hip-Hop Video at the 2016 Nigeria Music Video Awards and was filmed and directed by Unlimited LA, following his debut album, which was released in 2015.
After his contract with General Records expired, he founded his own record label NSNS (No Struggle No Success Entertainment) on November 11, 2016. His first single released under the label was titled Sai Baba.
Notable songs from CDQ’s debut album Quality include Woos Wobi, Oobi, Salaro, Talosobe, First Come First Serve and Make We Run.
In 2018, he released several hit songs: Warey yo, Gbayi, Shey Normal, Flex, Aye and Onye Eze. His second studio album, Ibile Mugabe, was released in 2019.
CDQ collaborated with Wande Coal to release the popular song “Kogbede” in 2021.

CDQ received two nominations at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards 2015. He was also nominated for Best Street Hip Hop Artist at the 2015 Headies Awards.
He won the Best Street Dance Artiste Award at the 2017 Ghana-Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
