Chappell Roan reveals disturbing incidents that led to him drawing boundaries with fans

Chappell Roan made headlines when she criticized her fans for “predatory behavior” and asked them to respect her boundaries, and in a new interview with ‘Rolling StoneThe 26-year-old singer shared the terrifying events that forced her to speak out.

In the revealing interview, Roan shared a number of incidents including fans getting wind of her flight information when she flew to Seattle and meeting her at the airport. A man yelled at her for not signing an autograph, prompting airport police to intervene, but then showed up with paparazzi when she flew back to Los Angeles.

“I went home and fell to my knees,” she told the magazine. “It’s hard for me to cry now because of the medication, but I cried and screamed.”

The incidents only escalated from there. Roan says a fan kissed her without her consent at a bar while she was out celebrating a friend’s birthday, then someone called her father after his phone number was leaked online. After she publicly told her fans to respect her boundaries and stop touching her and “doing weird things” to her loved ones, she shared that a number of A-list celebrities reached out to her in support, including Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, Billie Eilish, and many more.

One singer who understood what she was going through and reached out to her was Sabrina Carpenter, who also rose to fame this year with hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.”

“We were both going through something really bad,” Roan said of her and Carpenter. “She just felt like everything was up in the air, and she was just trying to hang on.”

In August, Roan made it very clear to fans that they needed to respect her personal space and not cross any boundaries.

“For the past 10 years I’ve been relentlessly building my project and it’s time for me to draw the line and set boundaries,” Roan shared in an Instagram post. “I’ve wanted to be an artist for a very, very long time. I’ve been involved in too many non-consensual social and physical interactions and I just need to come out and remind you that women don’t owe you anything.”
