Chappell Roan wins BBC Radio 1 Sound Award 2025 amid growing popularity

Chappell Roan has won the BBC Radio 1 Sound of 2025, which lists singers who are on their way to stardom and are equipped with the best chances of breaking into the mainstream.

On January 9, BBC shared that Pink Horse Club hitmaker won the list judged by more than 180 renowned experts for their contributions to the music industry. With this award, Roan is predicted to have a successful 2025 thanks to her popularity and the continuous release of hit movies.

In the description for Roan, BBC highlighted her 2023 debut album, titled The rise and fall of a Midwestern princessand expressed how the release achieved widespread acclaim despite initially being a “slow record”.

Besides music, Roan’s activities aimed at furthering her burgeoning music career were also cited as contributing factors. It also refers to the singer’s live performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago, Saturday night liveand her sold-out shows across the UK.

On the list, Roan also won against artists Ezra Collective (No. 2), Barry Can’t Swim (No. 3), Myles Smith (No. 4) and English Teacher (No. 5).

In other news, Roan has been invited by Elton John to perform at his upcoming 33rd AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party.
